With the current geforce range.....

The 260 is a lower specced 280
The 285 is a refresh of the 280
The 260 maxcore is a refresh of the 260
The 250 is a re-release of the 9800
The 295 is the dual gpu one

What exactly is the 275?? Is it just another re-release?

The 275 uses one of the same cores the 295 uses (240SPs) but with the 260's 448-bit memory interface, so it's basically the ******* child of a 260 and a 280.

Confusing I know, but Nvidia have been trying to bamboozle people into buying for years.

It's a 280 GPU with a 260 memory system.

So as the name suggests it's somewhere inbetween a 260-216 and a 280, although closer to a 280.

The one which i always get confused with is the 295....as it doesnt say x2....ragh so i never see it as a dual chip card. And why 295 not 290!?

A better question would be "why isn't the 260 216sp the 265?

Then there would be

260 replaced by 265
280 replaced by 285
295
new 275

so 265<275<285<295

but no... nvidia just like to confuse people.

The 275 is a 55nm part, making it a crippled 285 core and not a crippled 280 (which was 65nm).

NVidia should have named their cards as follows.
GTX260 (192SP/448bit/65nm)
GTX265 (216SP/448bit/65nm)
GTX270 (216SP/448bit/55nm)
GTX275 (240SP/448bit/55nm)
GTX280 (240SP/512bit/65nm)
GTX285 (240SP/512bit/55nm)
GTX295 (2x240SP/448bit/55nm)

They do of course have room to release a more powerful dual card with 2x240SP/512bit but what can they call it now?
