just found this on the internets, if i had the cash i would snap it up! but i dont :(
My dad reckons it has been stolen, which tbh i dont blame him

i have highlighted the main specs

"Asking price £500
This brand new 17-inch MacBook Pro comes with Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac, worth over £100.

Also included is a Griffin elevator laptop stand worth around £25.

I bought this as a present for my girlfriend, unbeknown to me her parents had also bought her one for her 21st birthday. The box has been opened but the laptop has NEVER been used so is still shiny and BRAND NEW. The box is also still perfect.

Altogether when bought these three items cost over £2100.

This extremely powerful machine is capable of handling high demand software such as graphic design, CAD, real-time video editing, and games. It has an enormous hard drive, perfect for storing video and music.

As its chipset is Intel based, it is capable of running Microsoft Windows operating systems alongside the Mac OS, meaning that it can play PC games as well as games designed for Macs. This particular MacBook Pro has a graphics card capable of running PC games extremely well.

If it's too good to be true...

Even if he needed rid of it the same day, he's still going to manage lots of money for it.

Assuming the laptop exists why don't they just consider taking it back either under the DSRs or simply to the shop since it is supposedly brand new and unused? If you can answer that question in a straightforward manner then it might not be a scam but since I've got my distinct doubts and it seems that you want it highlighted - that just about screams scam.

£500 for a laptop bundle worth £2100?

If it looks to good to be true then it probably is.

Anyway the specs are wrong as the new MacBook Pro takes DDR3

Apple said:
2GB (two 1GB SO-DIMMs) or 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB

And the CPU speed.

2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB on-chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor speed; or 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB shared L2 cache

And the GPU

NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor; 512MB of GDDR3 memory
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory

If it was bought as a gift, it should still in the box. In that case, I highly doubt that a shop would refuse to take it back, worst case senario they'd take a stocking fee of 10%. I'm sure even cash generator would give more than £500!

It's either fake or stolen. I saw the same reason for sale when I was looking at GHDs on ebay, and every time the photo was of a fake pair.

Unless it had a buy it now of £500 you just don't know how auctions work.

Current price is now £1,220.00 its an auction, start price does not mean they sell for that.
