BMW E39 530d Power?

Hi all,

My dad has just bought a 2003 530d touring SE, he is looking to get it remapped - but every company he phones up ask him the power output of the car, my googling skills seem to keep coming up with a figure of 190bhp, is that correct?

Also realistically what can he expect to see from a remap power/economy wise?

Which companies are generally regarded best for dealing with the remaps of these engines?

BMWs own literature states 193bhp.

Well, for an engine that started life about 10 years ago it's not bad

Fair enough, do the new ones have a newer engine then? Does bhp really matter than much on a diesel or are the talkies more important?

all about the torque in a diseasal. will probably be around 300 lbft

The E60 diesels are a whole new bunch, and the figures for the LCI ones are quite good IMHO:

520D - 177hp - maps to 215hp
525D - 197hp
530D - 235hp
535D - 286hp - maps to something awesome

2000-2003? Not bad at all. Show me a better 3 litre diesel engine from the time period.

184bhp = prefacelift 98-00 E39 530d and 00-03 330d.
193bhp = facelift 00-03 E39
204bhp = refreshed 03- E46 330d

IIRC the 330/530d first launched with 184hp.
