New Job, New Drive

I don't get why people say this??

Sure travelling mega miles in an old Polo or something might be a bit unpleasant, but I wouldn't have any issue doing 80 miles a day on the motorway in my Rover 200..

Edit: any more than I would in any other car :p
Sorry, its my poor sense of humour and short fuse after the ribbing I got in my new car thread, started unsurprisingly by Fox's little continuation into this one.

I have just bought a new fiesta diesel with the intention of doing roughly the same journey. Very similar in size and ride quality to a mk1 focus diesel.

Ahh right - might help if you say it with a smiley or something then :D

Dont most leasing firms charge you for over mileage? Being as you are doing 20k a year [same as me] i would not lease.

Time for some sensible, constructive advice.

Are you planning on replacing your car anyway? If so, there is no reason not to look at something more economical for £6k. If you fancy a new car you might as well scratch that new car itch with something thats going to be frugal for such a trip. A Mondeo diesel or similar might be just the job.

Did you have no plans to replace your car? Keep the 306. It'll take you a very long time to get your £6k back in fuel savings whatever you buy.
