A Mugging On a canal boat. The Physchololololology in the location at the rear of it.

Know the feeling, even getting on buses late at night now is a no-no coming home to Parkhead. We always get a taxi now. Merchant city and west end are pretty safe when your out, but getting home is the problem

Glasgow is ok if you keep yourself to yourself and stick to the main streets. Some of the buses are fine but I suppose some of them are quite bad. I've not had a problem yet on my bus (goes through bridgeton cross and along dalmarnock road) but I tend to sit at the middle of the bus. Wouldn't want to be sitting in the back corner and a group of neds come on and sit around you trapping you in. I also sit near the aisle so no one can sit beside me and block me in (when the bus is empty, I do let people sit next to me on a busy bus :P)

Just watched it all now, and I honestly don't think I'd have not got involved towards the end when they were just attacking random people. At first there was confusion so you can be forgiven for not jumping to the rescue, but afterwards it became obvious they need putting in their place! They were hitting random people because they were getting away with it. Break their nose and they will think twice.

Once they were off the bus those kids should've been hunted down and kicked to within an inch of their lives. Nothing but zealous scum.

It's important to note that these kids are probably from the Paris suburbs which are notoriously rough areas.

You may be 6ft 6 but you've not done much fighting have you, And that is Not a question.
I am 6ft5 & Always move for space, My reach & speed is my weapon & small spaces hinder me as they would you.
i went to a rough secondary school and i grew up with the type of people who would be the ones doing the robbing/beating up in that video

i havent had a fight since i was around 18 years old which is 10+ years ago but i am not your typical person hiding behind a keyboard.

Well atleast 3 of the youths got arrested.

My blood would have been boiling if i was there watching that happen, dont know what i would do as i wasn't there.

Exactly. You just don't know what you'll do until you're in that situation yourself. Just because you'd be sober, fit, healthy and willing to go toe to toe one time, doesn't mean you won't be tired, drunk, sick, or withdrawn the next.

I've been in situations where I've just froze up before such as the first time I was ever mugged, and others where I've let all Hell break loose. I can't say I'd have stepped in to begin with but there's no way I'd have remained passive after that bus went nuclear.

Chances are any one of these wouldn't have done a thing on their own, but together they look as if they are trying to impress one another, they rely on people not doing anthing and if any one does they would probably be backed up by one of their mates out numbering you two to one. This sort of thing happens all over its not just Paris.

Didn't mean to infer anything mate I was just pointing out the obvious. Well done on the 10 years without a fight, Me I like to fight but have grown old. :(
Having said that my job over the last few months has made me fitter than I've been in over 15 years so I am proper ready for my next one. S'pose the last fight I had was when that Dude swung at me whilst out with my dog, A straight jab & two god almighty right hooks soon sorted him out though. The only thing that winds me up these days about fighting is People give it large but when I set about them & beat them they run to the law.
Like those 4 on that Bus, It would have had to get messy & I would have just gripped them up & slung them into the windows & seats etc, Once down I could have enjoyed some Stampsys :D Without doubt once the law came & see them messed up it would be Me that got arrested.

I don't know about anyone else but I found that really unpleasant to watch.

I'd like to think I'd get involved (if sober and capable) but the thought of some little ned with a kitchen knife in his waistband always worries me when fighting rears its head.

It's easy for us to say we would intervene, but the video is taken out of the context and we don't know the full story.
- Imagine this is bus going through East Ham, and these four thugs are track suit wearing baldies with heavy lithuanian accents. Would you find situation familiar enough to jump in?
- Imagine this is bus going through Seven Sisters, right after Arsenal match, and the main guy of the four has "Gunners Firm 4evur" shirt on his chest and ugly knife scar across his face. Would you be confident enough to step in?
- Imagine this bus is going through Thamesmead, you know there is no Police station or other methods of transportation for miles, if you have to run, there will be no shelter, no cameras, nobody will find you for days. And the boys who just stood up have White Power emblems on sleeves of their harrington jackets and Prussian cross tattooed on their necks. Would you find the scene predictable enough to intervene.

Dunno... you can never really say for sure til your in that situation... when I see a quiet, non-offensive type being bullied it tends to get my blood up and I lose it... reason goes out the window.

the guy that was tripped up,i woulda threw him threw the bus window...he would have thought twice about punching me in the face again:D

theres a huge difference between fully grown men and a few punk kids in paris.

grown men tend to know when someone has had enough anyway so usually only hit someone a few times and that is fact

If you reckon you can take them then go for it - open a can of whoop ass, go all fight club style on them. Heavily outnumbered/weapon then bail.
