Hey everyone, ive had some cx300's for the past two years and they have served me very well, in fact id recommned them to anyone, but they are on thier last legs and the right driver has started to crackle etc

can anyone recommend me some new in ear headphones - preferably made by sennheiser and similar to the cx300's that offer noticebaly superior sound quality for under around £50? ive seen some review of the new cx90's and a lot of people seem to complain that they are pretty dire :( so i thought id ask on here to see if anyone had any perosnal experiences as well.

thanks for the help

i said preferably...., and seen as the first set were so good it just seems wise to go with a company you trust, but if theres anything out there thats better for the money then by all means please suggest it :)

CX300 have 2 year warranty. Email Sennheiser support and request a GRN.
RMA it back to Sennheiser and they will send you the updated version CX300-II for free (they don't have any of the old version).

The CX300-II sound much better than the CX300.

i replaced my cx300's recently with some sony ex90lp's that i got for about £38 - huge difference in sound quality. The only bad point is that the sony's have poor sound isolation - apart from that they urinate on the cx300's from a great height.

I thought the aardvark might have some personnal experience, I'd already looked it up on Google but thanks so much for your explicit guide.

the best indication was the sound - they sounded terrible.

also the leather case wasn't leather, whereas the real one definitely smells of leather.
apart from that the fakes looked really really similar to the real ones i later bought.

the fake ones i got off ebay for £15 - worth a chance but hey, i got my money back.
the real ones cost £38 from that south american river place.

I currently use the CX300s and am looking to upgrade aswell, so far i've heard good things about the Shure SE110's which can be had for under £50 here

although I'm holding out for the newer model SE115s is coming soon, which is supposed to have better sound quality (source -not the best place I know, but the first i heard) for roughly the same price.

Housing are metal, 3.5 jack say's "China" sound great, not bad for £21.99 ;)

the fakes are also metal and say 'china' but if they sound great they must be real - the fake ones sound like your listening through a wall!

i can highly recommend you mod these like some people have done on headfi (its vegetarians mod). i filled in the kidney shaped holes with silicone sealant (leaving the central hole open) and also removed the foam from the tubes - they sound amazing! i was listening to propellerheads last night just to check the bass and phew! very very good. i'm amazed how close the ex90lp's are to my hd600's.

Cx95 earphones?

I have them and i use them both for outside listening and on my home pc.They sound awsome with my xfi.

Probably i should upgrade to the xonar now.

Thanks for all the advice, i had a lot at some sony solutions but to be honest i really want them to be noise cancelling, the shure ones look pretty good as well

i was thinking about these but all the reviews say that when you tug on the wires the vibrations interfere with the sound, may well go for them though
