Whats the quietest PSU going?

This will be used to replace a 620W OCZ which is powering my intel atom server (overkill I know)

Its also reasonably noisy and has green led fan which is annoying.

Whats the quiest psu around atm? Only needs to deliver power to a atom server so wattage isn't a problem

Be Quiet do a 450W PSU, I think theyre generally regarded as being very very quiet (as the name might suggest :S)

Akasa also do 400W "Silent" which is a bit cheaper.

Thats the best I can recommend.

Take a look at the Zalmans as well, supposed to be quiet.

my nesteq 450W is semi fanless so it is silent unless it gets too hot, which it hasnt in 18 months cost me £ 75

at £ 48 modstream looks good
a Rasurbo DLP Silent and Power Quiet PSU is even cheaper..

I don't know the OCZ ModStream but I did have an OCZ StealthXStream and it was anything but silent, so unless you can get to check one out I'd steer clear of OCZ.

As someone else has said BeQuiet! are extremely quiet, but they are a bit more expensive...

The OCZ Modstreams are very poor.

How about a Antec Earthwatts 380w? They are very good.

Ok thanks. the modstreams do have modular cables as well. I'll have a look at be quiet ones.

I have used a 380W earthwatts before, they are pretty good !

I have a 4U rack with no fans at all actually

But surely its not under load if its powering an intel atom?

i'dd consider that. Quality PSU. I have the 650 and its pretty much silent, so i'dd assume the 450 generates less heat with the same fan system etc...

Wrong, take a look at the Pico PSU, it's under £90 also.

These are known for being about the quietest out there currently. They make the Corsair 650TX.

Yup one of the many reasons i spent the extra to get one. The two fans in there are such good quality, dispite one of them being tiny it makes no noise at all. Briliant investment and probably last me several pc's i hope anyway
