Big monitor - Dell or Hazro?

I'm looking at getting myself a nice screen, which will hopefully last me at least a couple of computer builds. It will be used for a bit of word processing and browsing, but mostly for gaming (both PS3 and PC, so needs an HDMI and DVI in) and movies. I'm therefore after a VA or IPS screen, with at least reasonable response times, and as little input lag as possible.

From the sounds of things, both the Dell 27" screen, and the Hazro 26" screen are top monitors. However, being IPS screens they may have issues with input lag - does anyone use either of these for gaming, and if so how are they?

I'm leaning towards the Dell at the moment, as it's a little larger and has Displayport in, so is a touch more future-proof. Are there any alternatives to these screens at this size and price point? Any advice would be great :D

The notoriety surrounding IPS panel input lag has long been dispelled. According to this review, the Hazro 26" (Wi revision) performs exceptionally well in this regard, with only around 7.5ms delay. You'll be hard pressed to find an LCD that cuts it down any further, and even less likely to find one with an equally impressive response time. It's also worth considering the equivalent Dell 27" (2707wfp) review, which highlights a far less agreeable 46ms average input lag.

I'll recommend the Hazro, since that'd be the screen I'd buy, given the money and choice. They're around the same price, and although I've heard there are some flaws to the Hazro's design (such as the occasional flare of green pixels), it's definitely the superior choice for an avid gamer. Other concessions include issues with panel uniformity and fairly uninspiring black levels, but it aces the Dell in most other aspects.

I think that's a fair shake. Hope that helps.

Actually sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant the Dell 2709W as opposed to the 2707WFP which it replaced. Anyone know how that Dell is with regard to input lag?

Does the Hazro take HDMI in? If not then it's pretty much off the table for me straight away unfortunately.

hi,

the dell 3007 30" and hazro 30" both have only one dvi connection which is why they have such very low lag and fast response times.

all the 27" dells and the 30" 3008 model dells have have poor response and lag times due to the multiple inputs and scaler chip.

a better solution rather than the dell 27" would be to get the 26" hazro as thats got hdmi also like its smaller and bigger brothers is ips which is the better panel type to get with the largest viewing angle available and its all in alluminium.

if the dell 27" didnt have the slower lag/response times i may have got a dual setup of that but bought two IPS 30" hazros instead.

you choice as it depends on what you require it for.

mine was workspace and very low lag for gaming and multimedia stuff.

Have to say that the Hazro sounds more like what I'd need, although the thread on it in this forum doesn't exactly show it in a glowing light; sounds like the customer service leaves a lot to be desired, and that there are a fair few glitches floating around...

Does anyone else make a 26-28" IPS screen?

Hazro never get back in contact with you when you need them too.

I've just had a crappy experience waiting nearly 7 weeks for an RMA, but now I've got my screen back (HZ24Wi), I just can't be any more in love with it; it's a great screen.

My thoughts on Hazro, love the products, hate the company.

the only other ips 26" lot of users here have is the LG LG W2600HP in black silver ...has low lag and built in hub but only connections are 1 dvi and 1 vga although Connecting this monitor to HDMI is not problem, you just need to buy HDMI-DVI cable and everything is fine.

and by the looks of it its only now available through european outlets as i couldnt find in a uk search:(

also it must have the HP on the end (W2600HP) as they make 4 identical models but all TN... such as W2600H-P(F,B,E..etc)

i do agree their after sales leads a lot to be desired but the actual end goods do talk for themselves...me i wouldnt trade my hazros for anything short of the american equivilent... DoubleSight DS-305W which you cant get in the uk.

and in case you wondered i was tempted by the dell 3007-hc model untill i saw the over applied twinkling screen coating:( way too thick...looks like the screen is frosted rather than matt.

I've been searching far and wide, and I can't find any 26" IPS screens (besides the ones mentioned here) for sale in europe. The only other option would be to shoot for a 24" HP LP2475W.

Despite the slow customer service, I may actually bite the bullet and go with a Hazro 26Wi in a few weeks. They seem to pack all the features and specs I want into a tidy, sleak package, and I think it's worth the risk overall. Nobody else is offering anything close to my requirements anyway; this is about as good as it'll ever get.

Although I wouldn't say no to a cheeky price cut ;)

hp 30" or 24" hp2475w is a H-IPS panel to.

has loads of connections and low input lag im selling my 2 for a hp 30" though :)

Boo. I'm just popping down to the high street PC store to have a look at the difference between a 24" and a 27" screen - may go for the NEC...
