Manchester or London

Living in Manchester is fairly safe as long as you're not a moron i.e. a female walking home alone at 3am, but it's like that in any city. Living in Fallowfield I think it would be rare to feel intimidated since such a large percentage of the population there are students.

Surely her choice should depend on the institution, as the cities are vast and different areas offer different opportunities and have different lifestyles.

Going by the comment on japan, probably salford ;) haha university snobbery. Man Uni and Man Met are next door to each other anyway so that doesn't make a huge difference, I think the OP said its one of those two.
