I'm considering in them, I hate wearing glasses and when it comes to summer I can't wear sun glasses :(

So what's the best ones to get, daily? monthly? etc.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

If you intend on wearing them most days, monthly's.

If you intend on wearing them sporadically, daily's.

Just go to your opticians they'll talk you through it all :)

Get perscription sun glasses?

I prefer dailies although I wouldn't wear them all the time, only when doing something where my glasses might get damaged.

I had an eye test last week and spent a small fortune on some glasses. I just can't bring myself to wear contact lenses. The thought of touching my eye makes me feel sick. The few puff's of air they fire into your eye's to test for glaucoma made me feel very uncomfortable.

I don't want to get perscription sun glasses becauase if they break I have to go through all the hoopla again instead of buying some £4 ones on ebay again.

I wear glasses when I'm on the laptop and watching tv etc. But going out, at work etc. I wont bother because glasses are a pain for me.

Perscription or not there's little point in wearing cheap sun glasses, they won't offer any actual protection.

I wear monthlies and haven't had any problems with them, I used to wear dailies but I never found them comfortable, that's why I was cautious about going to monthlies. Best thing I did, only costs me £10 a month and I even get free eye test and checkups thrown in, I am at a computer most days and don't seem to have any problems, I can get a good 12 hours out of them before I feel the need to take them out.

I work for an Optician. I've learnt a lot since. If you're going for sunglasses don't got for anything less than polorized lenses. The cheap ones you buy from Topman will not help at all.
If you want contact lenses Daily Comforts are good.

I've used monthlies for years now - I detest wearing glasses (and don't even actually have any that fit any more). They're great - go get them.

Most of the time when contact lenses feel uncomfortable it's because the base curve in the lense is wrong. When you get your trials, ask the dispensing optician to order you the same lense in a few base curves.

Monthly disposables are ace. I got used to them very quickly and wish I had switched over from glasses sooner.

How exactly will polarised lenses help asides from eliminating reflections? They're useful for certain sports but I don't really see why everyone would need them? They're not going to provide anymore protection for your eyes.

The polarised filter only allows light to enter the glasses through one direction only. All other light coming in from other directions are filtered out. So when you're wearing your sunglasses you don't have to squint if it's sunny outside as the polarised lens cuts most of it out.

I have the 30 day lenses also, however I can't manage more than 2 days before I feel them drying out and I have to take them out :(

That's not really right. While a polarising lens will only let one polarity of light in the darkness is simply a side effect. Over a clear piece of glass a polarising lens will led about a stop less of light in but there again so will sunglasses.

Don't want to squint? Just get darker lenses.

Get laser surgery if you're eligible (age, type of prescription, etc.) - I did and can't believe how good it was/is.

If you think about all the money you'll be spending on glasses and/or contact lenses, eventually you'll break even, and possibly save money!

If it's not for you then I would recommend daily's - convenience i.e. no cleaning etc. and you don't have to worry about losing/damaging them too much, as with monthly's.

I'm pretty sure you have to take them out every night - even if they are "30 day lenses".
