Intel Price Drop April 19th?

920's wont be getting a price drop for 3months+ :( Its a shame, they'd been out for so long already, will be about 9months after release till the first price drop, all because intel has no competition:(

Their x58 boards arent dropping in price either:(

This my friend is called a monopoly.

From information around then net the i7s will not be on the price cut agenda, nor will be there be any for the future, even when the new i9 are due for release.

May take a look at a new set up with AM3 & an AM3 board over i7 and x58 chipsets.

there's nothing wrong with i7 cpu prices tbh. to put it into context, my very first C2D cpu, an E6600 set me back a whopping £246 back in 2006. my i7 920 set me back £236 on special offer just the other week. thats a helluva lot of cpu for the same dosh.

now granted X58 mobo's aint cheap, but if you take the time to really shop around you can find some damn decent mobo's out there, like the Asus P6T SE and Gigabytes EX58-UD3R, plus Foxconns Renaissance Intel X58 mobo.

add to that triple channel DDR3 kits are finally down to affordable prices then i7 need not cost an arm and a leg if your prepared to look around and use your brains. especially if you've got any lga 775 kit going spare you can chuck on an auction site.
