Motorway Speeds

Just get through your test mate & then drive how you want like the rest of us.
Thing to do on here though is Pretend you drive Completly legally at all times & double your MPG figure for kudos points.

I'm certain I passed an HGV doing easily 90mph yesterday on my way down from Ab. Decided to overtake out of instinct and was surprised when I had to really accelerate to get past it...

everyone does 70+ on the motorway, I saw a merc A class doing 100mph, i was like wow didnt know A class can go that fast. My average speed on the motorway is between 70-80. You should see how people drive in Arizona, US they really know how to **** you off.

My car comfortably and efficiently cruises anywhere up to ~85, engine gently ticking over, what makes me laugh is the older smaller cars screaming past guzzling fuel like its going out of fashion.

Why should you care how much fuel other cars are using?

I came up behind someone on the M4 the other day, with them doing 60mph in the outside lane with both the left two lanes empty for at least 500yards in front of them. Despite flashes and gestures for them to move over, they wouldn't, this meant myself (and many other cars) had to perform an illegal overtake on them, but undertaking them.

Im surprised how many people get this wrong, you are legally allowed to pass on the left, you just are not allowed to undertake, there is a distinct difference.

i always do between 65 and 70 on the motorway, really can't see the point in doing anymore. MPG just nose dives and the actual time you gain is very minimal (unless your doing a very long journey)

With overtaking (undertaking) you pull into the left 'overtake' and then move back out into the right hand lane, if you pull into the left lane, pass the **** and stay in the left lane, thats 'passing'.

Surely there should be some definition of distance before pulling back into the right hand lane? Cant see anything in the highway code that defines an overtake...

at 140mph you get there in half the time

i'd argue that 65mph on a motorway, your abit of a menace.... you prolly cause the big pockets of bunched up traffic each time you move to overtake a hgv
