Help me to decide what GTS 250 to get

It isn't an upgrade i would make and if that is what you want then picking up a second hand card would be better in terms of cash you pay but if it has to be a 250 then the xfx is the one to go for. I would seriously look at spending a few extra quid and getting something much much better though.

Spend some more cash on a better upgrade :)
250 is basically an overclocked 8800GT which is only around 10-15% faster than a 9600gt.

Actually a GTS250 is exactly a 9800GTX+ which is 40-50% faster than a 9600GT in virtually everything you care to test it on.

It will be an upgrade yes, but as said above, not much of a one, id go 260-216 or 4870 1gb minimum to get a more worthwhile boost, as you have to remember the GTS 250 is just an old 8800 GTS thats been renamed again.

Hehe well what i ment was a 8800GT was 10-15% faster than a 9600GT. And that the gts250 is an overclocked 8800GT with a few more shaders added on (like the 8800GTS 512mb)

So we have a GTS250 which is a 9800gtx+ which is a 9800GTX with an overclock and a die shrink, and the 9800GTX is an overclocked 8800GTS 512. This is the only reason why i cannot recommend a GTS250 because it isn't what i would class as a "good upgrade".

But guys i game at 1440x900 and my processor is just a AMD 4200 (slightly overclocked from 2.2ghz to 2.4ghz but will get 2.8ghz out of it in the end) so dont you think it will bottleneck the GTX 260 a lot actually making it cheaper and better for me to get the GTS 250?

I got a 9600GT, and the only thing I'd upgrade to is a 260 or 4870. But then again, Im not even that fussed, as it seems the 9600GT can still play 95% of games fine.
