what you guys think?

weheey, yeah, seen it at 4ghz

first time overclocker, didnt wanna screw anything up

stil dont get the whole concept of how to overclock :(

btw, is the core speed the how much you've overclocked?:|

There's quite a lot to it at the higher end of things, but a decent OC can be achieved easily enough. Have a read of the stickies at the top of this forum, they'll give you a better idea.

Yea, just read the stickies in the forums, the basic guide here and then the advanced guide here, though that is mainly about cooling, it does give the max temps to let you know when your pushing it a bit far!!

Thats what your core is currently running at. Yours started out at 2.66GHz and is now running at 3.46GHz, so youve overclocked it 0.8GHz :) You just bumped up the bus speed so far?

took me a while to understand but i think i got the basics
i think ive got it running at 3.5 atm, we'll see how well this goes then i might try the memory
ill download prime95 and post some pics up of the temps

edit: how do you use prime95, and what is it

Its a stress testing program, download it, no need to install just run it tell it just stress testing and click start. It will churn away until you stop it. If any of the threads stop with a red error then you have a problem or if you get a blue screen of death you have a major instability. I'd run it for at least 15 mins or so before clocking further.

Most people say 8 hours running to prove your system is stable.

ok ran prime95, not sure if its all good or what, but heres the print screen of it with some temps..
look good?

Read the sticky. It does actually have a lot of useful stuff in it with regards to overclocking.

Personally, I'd find out a lot more about what I was actually doing before changing settings, even though hardware in this day and age is infinitely more resistant to melt-down than that of even three/four years ago.

volts are on auto, i dont wanna play with them just yet
just to make sure i've done it right, if i wanted 3.5ghz, id do 3500/20(cpu multiplier) then that would give me 175, which i enter in the bios? just wanna double check im doing it right

Yes but it looks like you have turbo mode on giving you a 21 x multi so 175 x 21 = 3675Mhz
