I'm looking at getting one of these but would like to know if anyone's got one already and what their opinion of it is.

I'm getting really annoyed playing my gf because she just finger bashes buttons and seems to win quite a lot whilst I'm just trying to actually learn the moves so I think the arcade stick will really enable me to up my game and show her how it's really done!

I have one, after a month 2 buttons started playing up (one was completely dead) and the other barely responded.

I wouldn't bother getting the standard edition unless you plan to change the parts from MadCatz crap to Sanwa/Seimitsu (HQ Japanese parts)

Oh and if you are losing to button bashers than an arcade stick will not help. :p

An arcade stick won't improve your game if you don't defend enough. If you're getting hit by random attacks, you should learn to block or evade them and then punish or continue to defend accordingly.

I don't have a stick myself (yet!) but it would (after quite a bit of practise) allow you to perform movements more accurately and help make some combos a bit easier due to having all of the buttons on the face of the stick.

As many have said the standard edition stick is crap but good if you upgrade the parts, it's really easy to do but will add and extra £30-40 to the cost.

A joystick won't make you any better at the game though, you will still lose to a button basher with or without.

I've ordered the stick and the sanwa parts.I'm not great at the game but the pad doesn't make it any easier.Plus it gives me a blister after an hour or so!

I don't understand how people get blisters from playing with the pad, they must be doing something seriously wrong =/ It's the same with some other people I know, they struggle to play over 30 mins because they get blisters on their thumb, you don't need to scrape the d-pad as hard as you can to get fireballs out :p

Personally I've always played SF with a pad and I will always stick with a pad, because that what I enjoy playing with the most and feel most comfortable with. I sure hope those madcatz pads are good quality, getting mine tomorrow hopefully (well later today).

I am so close to buying a TE, but the biggest thing putting me off is that the majority of my time on SFIV is with mates, and it would be unbalanced to have just one... and buying two is just too much £££...

I assume most of you who have them are mainly into the single player and playing online? (which i'm not really bothered with)

Online yeah, none of my friends would be any good and my cousins are terrible, it's boring just walking over people.

I think you are missing out on a lot by not spending time online though.

hmm, i beg to differ, where is the satisfaction in being better than someone you don't know, or the opposite, who cares if you lose to a stranger?

I have mates who are equally as good (or bad) as me and we have great battles that are close most of the time and I really enjoy this, we're all different tho eh...

Whoa calm down christ, I enjoy playing online as it's ....FUN, yes stressful and annoying at times but it's a lot of fun too.

Plus you don't always have friends round and there's a lot of different people to learn against online.

Do what I did then:

SE + Sanwa parts for £100
Ghetto arcade stick for £50

2 TE quality sticks for the price of one TE :)

Er... he is calm, so why are you over reacting?

All he's saying is that he gets no satisfaction from winning online, as I imagine it's just like playing the AI to him.

I enjoy learning how to play a complex game online such as Street Fighter and as there are people of all skills out there, I can be sure to find a match against someone online where it will be close and exciting. Also as I get better at a game, I'm more likely to find someone at the same skill level as me online so games can still be close and exciting. Most of my mates don't really play games that much so I don't really have the chance to play against them. Sure the social aspect isn't the same online, but if you both have mics, there is still a bit of the social aspect there. Though if I did have friends that played the game and were at the same level as me skill wise, I'm sure I would prefer local games.

this :)

however, maybe i'm just lucky to have mates that are good at the game ;) - it is particularly crap to be loads better or worse than who you're playing no matter what it is...

its a shame you don;t like playing online, it opens you up to so many different character choices and playstyles, not to mention differing levels of competition.

i love playing offline, but online certainly has its advantages too :)
