Looking at their full range, that's not a huge achievement is it?

The X3 and X5 took good cars and ruined them.

The X6 is simply laughable.

I thought the x3 was already quite small as far as 4x4s go? This must be tiny! As said above though, they wouldnt be doing it if there wasnt a market for it.

The X6 actually really does look nice in real life.

The top half looks, good and so does the bottom. But welding the two bits together produced an abomination. It looks exactly like that makes it sound: two completely different cars welded together. A lot of soft-roaders tend to look a bit like that, but this is the ultimate.

Other companies are slimming down their range to concentrate on specific models, BMW seem to be doing the opposite. How about they concentrate on making ONE ******* 4X4.

I disagree.
As long as the cars are good to drive and durable due to good quality engineering, while also priced above the Mondeo/Vectra bracket then they'll still be bought by the same sectors.
What alternative does a perspective 3 series owner really have?
Answer=Nothing.

How about accepting that they probably know their target customers better than you or I? If they think there's a niche they can fill with another model and generate more revenue then they'll go for it.

Got to say the new Z4 has grown on me already; the blue one on the TV ad looks really, really good.

^this, the X6 in real life does look mean and the Z4 almost makes me want to go out and buy a gun so I can reduce my family down to just 2

This is something people often forget.
They're not in business to make "cool" cars. They're in business to make cars, and lots of them in order to make profit.
Does anyone thing the X5 is cool?
Personally, I think it's hard to get out of one and not look like a bit of a dick.
Very good pieces of machinery, but a bad image to go with it.
