As per the title. I'm looking at an VIII in a couple of months and am wondeing if the premium that the MR gives is worth it?

I figure I've had the DC5 long enough.

ok heres the main differences

The Evo 8 MR FQ 300 has over the regular FQ300

Evo VIII MR FQ 300 – As VIII FQ 300 plus:
•10.5T (single flap) housing
•upgraded cams
•MR seats and door cards
•carbon effect dash inserts
•dark brushed steel steering wheel
•Bilstein shock absorbers
•aluminium used in roof and side door beams
•Team Dynamic (gunmetal) alloys
•black background to front and rear lights
•slightly bigger oil cooler (more layers)
•twin boost solonoid
•optimization and reinforcement of the oil channels in the pistons
•uprated 5-ply head gasket
•added tension in piston rings, v shaped groove in second land of pistons
•reduced weight S-AYC diff (alu casing), higher strength hypoid gears, operates even when ABS is activated

I know the differences thanks, I am wanting to know if all that above actually makes it a much better drive or not. Evo's aren't exactly the easiest cars to go and test drive and I was hoping that someone on here might have had experience of both cars (looking at the 300 model).

Why arent they the easiest cars to test drive? Bulldog Ralliart (Winnersh/Reading) let me take an FQ320 out for an hour and give it a good thrashing. I went for a Subaru instead.

My local Ralliart dealer (Poole) wouldn't let me take one out a few months ago.

F them then, get yourself a test drive to ralliart in Winnersh. It will be worth the trek up if youre serious. Its the biggest ralliart showroom in the UK (that doesnt say much as it isnt that big) but they have a huge selection of cars there compared to other dealers.

Doesn't matter anyway now lol, I'm two months into my current policy and my insurance company will only insure up to a VI.

id say its more down to what you can find. But to my mind, youd beliberately underselling yourself if you took an identical FQ over an MR FQ.

It all depends what you can find that meets your age / mod / colour requirements etc..

What happened with the S2000 that you viewed near Shaftesbury mate?

I decided to keep the teg in the end mate. The S2000 didn't offer much more in terms of driver enjoyment.

Or price? :D

I see what you're saying... I'll put the Evo idea on the burner for a while methinks.
