Hi I am wondering if many people have understanding of whats suitable temps for ati graphics cards on idle

I have 2 4850s on crossfire, my main one which is in slot one on my asus p6t is averaging at 62 on idle, and the other one which is below it which is the secondary card averages at 37

Am just wondering whats safe ie give decent lifespan

I was also looking at motherboard temps as mine is averaging at 45 on idle but read this as no problem as they measure lifespan on 65 avarage for idle making them last 10 yrs plus

Also does anyone no how to monitor creative soundcard temps

Its all through curiosity mainly

Thanks

gfx cards run a lot hotter than CPU's do, so 90 isnt a problem, its unusual thered be such a big difference in the 2 cards though, do you have crossfire enabled? dont think theres a specific soundcard monitor unless you use a temp probe

Yeah It is enabled, its only on idle am just testing i reck reason why 2nd one lower is because heat rises and am using everest and riva tuner to monitor and they both show same

I used to have a crossfire 4850 setup, and with good airflow, they idled at around 60deg and 90deg under load.

In windows (and non crossfire games) the secondary card is ALWAYS cooler.

cooler yes but not normally 30C cooler??? well mine arent anyway, only about 10 in it, so long as theyre working ok I guess theres no problem, just figured with such a big difference maybe he'd forgot to turn on crossfire, nvm

my 4830 is bumming about on 40-45 at the minute with the fan speed on about 60% doesnt really go much higher when its running games either to be honest

GPU-Z is decent for temperature monitoring, shows you other little bits aswell, also I check temps on the ATI CCC when im fiddling with graphics and it matches GPUZ's measurements so its doing well so far

Hmmmm, will have to have a better look at this when i get home from work, i have GPUZ but have not seen where it gives temps? it also says crossfire is disabled when it is not? do i have a problem with GPUZ or is this a common fault?

I have a 4850x2 which Idles about 40-45 and gets to about 70ish on both cores under load. Id imagine one of the cards in a crossfire set up will always be quite a bit hotter due to reduced air flow and drawing hot air from the back of the other card across it.

What do you guy's recommend for monitoring GPU temps?

I quite like the monitoring stuff that comes with rivatuner as you can customise it and see both cores/cards temps and load in one window.

Am using Rivatuner and the add on gadget for vista sidebar , also everest and gpuz they all show the same so at least i no its accurate
