Decent places to go for a meal in Poole or Bournemouth?

Hey,

As I'm a bit of a recluse at the moment due to dissertation and all, I've decided to make it up to the GF after I've handed it in, and take her out for a decent meal. (there's a first!)

Any personal recommendations for places in the Poole/Bournemouth area?

Thanks,

Kris.

Loch Fyne if you don't mind spending a lot on a meal. Amazing food. Over by Canford Cliffs.
Prezzo's pretty good too. Central Bournemouth.

Mezza Luna - Poole Park, really can't beat it, or if you fancy something a bit different, the Upper Deck restaurant in Southbourne, part of the Grange Hotel is fantastic food and sits high above the sea with view to the Isle of Wight and Ol' Harry Rocks.

Expect to pay circa £30 / head for meal and a bottle of wine between 2

Around £60/70 for the both of us, neither are big drinkers of wine however!

I'm happy to have anything, a decent English menu would be nice (a good fillet steak would be nice). I'm personally not a huge fan of sea food, but I see Loch Fyne have other dishes too.

Just took a look at Upper Deck, quite close to where the GF lives so would be ideal to get to.

Mezza Luna looks good too, been to Prezzo in Bournemouth a couple of times - so would be good to try a different italian.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. :)

Also noticed this place, although it looks a bit OTT inside...

Been there too mate. Its ok, but the food is very rich (in both taste and price). The setting is ok but IMO not as good as Upper Deck. Actually, to be fair, the price wasn't too bad, again it really depends on what you have.

Out of the two, Upper Deck gets my vote. You don't have to dress like a n0b either, or drive a flash car. :)

Yeah, I think it's the best location wise and view wise, plus I've already chosen the soup and steak..

Thanks for the help Lucero & dienamite.

This screams RED PANDA on the sea front...although you've already booked some place.

It's a nice Chinese, doesn't cost the earth and the food is awesome. :)

Brilliant place. :)

I thought the Red Panda was Thai?! Awful food either way :p

Anyway, another recommendation for the Upper Deck from me. One of the best restaurants on the South Coast for both setting and food.

Chinese...and GET OUT! :p

Not really been to many places in/around Bournemouth as when I was with a girl she wasn't one for wanting to go to restaurants, only really went 'cause I wanted to...and being a student I didn't fancy going all that much. :p

I think the only other place I went to (other than a kebab/pizza/etc. shop) was an Italian on Winton highstreet near the Police station. Nice friendly place with huge portions, not amazing for a night out with the girlfriend though, much more family orientated. :)

There's a really good restaurant called Corriander. It's Mexican and it's a brilliant restaurant. It's in Bournemouth. Their address is:
Coriander
22 Richmond Hill
Bournemouth
Dorset
BH2 6EJ

And their website is http://www.coriander-restaurant.co.uk/

Me and my GF really enjoyed it there. The food was great and the portions were massive. The price was worth it. Me and my GF went it cost £30 odd in total which included starters, main meals and deserts.

Whilst you're waiting for your food they give you each plain paper and crayons so you can draw Mexican related pictures. They pin your pictures up if your drawings are decent. A definate ice breaker and a brillaint way to say sorry - pin the paper up in the restaurant (they'll let you do this).

It's very cosey and very romantic - it'll be the perfect setting for a makeup meal and sex afterwards.

I really to recommend it. :)

There's a really nice Thai restaurant near Winton high street, well that road that runs between Charminster and Winton perpendicular to the coast. Cracking place to eat. Can't give a better description of where it is as only lived in Winton for 3 months.
