On a 4 cylinder e36? It was under the bonnet on my two 318iS's I'm pretty sure, but we're talking 12 years ago now since I got rid of the last one.

It is under the bonnet on e36 4 cylinder engines, and in the boot on 6 cylinder engines.

Is there nowhere under the bonnet to attach them on an E34?

BMW used to give you terminals on the engine block (on the 728i E38 anyway) so you don't need to fiddle about in the boot. The E34 should be the same

I always did it from the seat, it was always cleaner in the back than under the bonnet
