THE biggest fight of the year is nearly here !!!

I myself am a Pacquaio fan. Ever since he KO'D the legend that is Barrera, I've admired the speed, combos and footwork. This guy is amazing to watch.

I'm not very patriotic when it comes to Hatton's holding tactics, and find his fights very hard to watch with all the hugging and wrestling. Now that he is with Floyd Mayweather Sr, I'm sure there will be a lot more thought in his boxing. Even so this fight will be an all out brawl I'm sure.

I'm looking forward to this, Pacquaio was awesome against Hoya (Hoya was poor also, but no one can take anything away from Pacquaio) and if he fights like that, unless Mayweather Senior has worked miracles, Hatton will get annihilated

Still, has the potential to be an epic fight

this will be a great fight, either for both being well prepared and a great match or for Manny showing the world just how good he is!

I'm a huge Manny fan, but I can just see Hatton bossing this.

Manny has the edge in speed and skill, and he can hit. But he is coming up a guy with a massive size and weight advantage.

The fight will depend on two things, does Manny have the power to hurt Hatton? and has Floyd managed to improve Ricky's boxing enough so that he'll move, stick the jab, and not just move forward in a straight line and eat punishment.

Either way its going to be some great TV, I reckon a 7-9th round stoppage for Hatton though.

Although, if it gos the other way, I wont mind, as long as its some good TV!

If Hatton tries to outbox Manny from Mayweathers new training reigime then I think Hatton stands even less of a chance than normal. It might of worked with Paulie Malinaggi but not Pacquaio.

I'm not suggesting Hatton should try and outbox Manny, but more he should use the boxing he has to get in close and bully him as we have come to expect, instead of walking into punch after punch on the way in.

Hatton needs to knock Pacman out early on, Pacman will eat Hatton up, he just does not have the stamina or skill to outbox a technical boxer.

Definitely looking forward to this fight but as much as id like Hatton to win, i think Pacman will destroy him. The guy is just too damn good...id love to see that arrogant SOB Mayweather get into the ring with Pacman but highly unlikely it would ever happen.

But that's the thing, Hatton doesn't have a massive weight advantage. They will both weigh in around the same (~150lbs on the night of the fight).

Hatton is an inch taller but has a shorter reach. Also he can be hurt by fighters that are not known for power but are accurate (Mayweather, Collazo...)

IF Hatton can get in close and work the body then he has a chance, if Pacman can stay away from that then he will win and most likely stop Hatton later in the fight.

Hatton needs to learn to box better and its as simple as that, heart, effort and a decent chin will get you through against crap fighters but Mayweather showed, anyone with real talent isn't remotely scared of someone dropping their chin and ploughing forwards, its a field day for those types of fighters. The thing is, Hatton isn't some overgrown, heavy, slow boxer, he's got very good speed but his retarded corner team has been teaching him to box stupid for years rather than use his speed to actually, you know, box.

The worst thing he did against Wayweather was keep running in, he's got the speed to be a decent counter puncher and he's got stamina, but stamina goes when you just run into punches for no reason at all, round after round. One round in that first he actually stayed back a bit, took hugely less hits, actually got his only decent hits of the fight and looked far more effective, but then he went back to his stupid tactics.

Frankly I don't think of Hatton as a good boxer technically, but then he's never really tried to fight that way, it doesn't mean he can't or can't learn. But its simply a different game against the worlds true best, he either keeps getting beaten down or he learns to counter, defend and fight properly. Problem is for him he went to long fighting bum's, has spent to long fighting the same way and I would imagine it would be very difficult for him to change his style so dramatically.

On how he's faught to date, he has no chance at all bar a lucky KO, which as we all know isn't really an indication of anything but that, luck. Lennox lewis giving the title to that bum whose name I forget, truly awful boxer, one punch and down then he destroyed him in the rematch. If he's changed his style completely I give him a better chance, but he's unpracticed fighting technically so very much doubt he can pull it out of the bag against a true champ.

Saying that its hard to see just how good Pacman is because Hoya made him look like the best boxer in the history of the universe, mostly because Hoya barely threw a punch or moved.

Such a hard fight for Hatton, really hope he does it but i think he might lose. Either that or Mayweather has turned him into a technical speed freak! :D

I hope for the latter!

you can only go by what you have seen before, manny will be too clever and skillful just like mayweather was.

hatton is a brawler and the very best can sort them out.

This could be a great fight, both have a superb work ethic, so it should be non stop action all the way.

Hatton needs to work Pacman over on the inside and as long as the ref doesn't spoil things, this could be his route to the title.

If it doesn't work out that way, the odds are with Pacman, who could win in the later rounds, or by a fairly large points margain.

Having said that, I think Mayweather Snr is the breath of fresh air that Ricky needed and could make all the difference.

Yeh absolutley, even v malignaggi Hatton looked a far far better boxer compared to the Graham days.

Hatton vs pacquiao? Who Will be the champ?

The Clash for the IBO light-welterweight title fight between Ricky Hatton of Britain and Filipino Manny pacquiao ( Saturday 2nd May). What a night this is going to be, Hatton looking in phenomenal shape nice job by mayweather snr, Pacquiao also looking in exquisite form superb job by freddy roach. I have no answer for this fight for who is going to end up the champ. Can Hatton prove himself?

:d:d

Pacquiao will more than likely be too fast for Hatton if he decides to box.
IF Pacquiao stands in front of Hatton then it could get interesting.

I would say PacMan to win in the later rounds

Pacman to win this altho i expect Hatton to have a good shot at him but i cant see Hatton winning this...if he does it will be nothing short of a miracle win.
