To all the slim guys who have real trouble finding "off the shelf" suits that fits...

TO DEBENHAMS!!!!!

Yeah i just noticed its half 1, dark and raining....

Still nice find, iv been meaning to get my self a nice fitting suit (tall and spindly apparently isnt normal these days irritatingly). Just waiting for my loan to turn up next week and ill be sorted :D

After quitting my office job a couple of months ago I hope I never have to see or hear about another suit again.

P.s. If you are looking for a nice suit may I suggest a home-made full denim number? Classy.

magnolia I don't care about the sales psychology behind it (which in this instance you are exagerrating) and this is not the thread for that... the point is that in comparison to other competing designer brands, 120 quid for a high quality suit and two pairs of trousers is a VERY good price.

If you like plastic tat.

Topman Premium suits :p

Jeff Banks make some good suits for the price, and that sale price makes them even more good value!
But 30R and 36R...I havent been that size since I was about 12 :p

Always have problems getting fairly slim fit suits to fit, as I have long monkey arms and eleventy 35 mile (well inch) long legs, 40 inch chest, 34 waist.

Will have to have a butchers, thanks for the recommendation.

I'm slim guys but hardly a midget... and perfectly in proportion... get over it... ;)

I might have to check this out, I always struggle to get trousers with a 28 waist on them :(

The ironic thing is that I do have a tailored suit from a respectable place that fits perfectly, cost over 3x more than the Jeff banks, and yet the Jeff Banks looks and feels no different (ie: no worse, it's really good quality). As far as "off the shelf" suits go, these are pretty much perfect. :)

Sounds interesting, I've never found an off the shelf suit that fits. Might pop along this weekend to see.

I really struggle to buy off the peg stuff :( It's either too tight oop top and looks like a tent around the waist, or it's just too big all over and looks frumpy, or I split the jacket when I breathe :( Trousers I have to buy 38" waist and get them taylored to 34" else I can't pull them up past my knees, as the skin tight look ain't good with suits (it ain't good full stop.)

Rich, do you reckon those places would cater for slim guys but with big builds? Is that an oxymoron? :o

Well FF I think it all depends what body shape you have... I have some shoulders but narrow hips, so with "traditional fit" suits I fill the shoulders, but the rest hangs off of me like some kind of tent. With these close-fitting slim suits, I fill the shoulders but thanks to the very slim cut it really hugs my sides and tapers down into my hips, creating a very smart and sleek look. However if you're hulk-like, then such slim cuts may cause a critical lack of oxygen. :D

So... what shape are you specifically?

EDIT - Err... just read your description more fully, maybe these may be a tad slim for you!

Anyway I'm off to Zara in Croydon shortly to try another suit I tried on in Zurich that was very nice fitting... and is a dark brown colour I can't find anywhere else. I think 3 suits should do me fine for a while now, though I do have a very bad impulsive clothes-buying habit.. i've bought close to 15 shirts already since i've been back in the UK. I see the prices here compared to Switzerland and just can't resist stocking up. :o

Hmm I have a week off next week so might pop into town and have a look...

46+ chest and just under 34 waist makes it a bit difficult, especially when you have thunder thighs as I do! :D

Thanks for the heads up it might be worth giving it a go anyway. :)

I know youre quite a well built chap. You should have a look at some of the Ted Baker and Ted Baker Endurance suits. I have the same problem, but with my shoulders. Im a 46R and a 36L waist. I found the TBE suits fit me really well.
