Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping - Looking good

Just testing a couple of processors for use in our full systems and our technicians thought it may be worth posting up.

These are two different chips, both cooled by a used and abused Akasa Nero cpu cooler. The motherboard used is a Gigabyte EX58-UD5 and these chips have a lot more headroom by the looks of it.

On a side note it appears these chips do not like higher volts, keep it around the stock level and on these two at least the results have been better.

4.00GHz+ off the shelf Ultima coming soon!

If anyone wants anything checked out on these new chips now is the time to ask. :)

Thanks for that Yewen...my 920 D0 has arrived at home (I am currently at work) so I shall be working on it tonight (before and after seeing Crank 2 :D) so will report back at some point...

Let us all know what week / stepping it is ;)
Cheers

These chips are looking excellent.

In the BIOS they are set to 1.32V and all have done 4.00GHz with temps at 76deg +/-2 at the moment.

Miles better than the normal i7 920 that we are seeing at the moment as some of these struggle to pass 3.30GHz at the moment.

Will you be offering any D0 overclocked bundles in the near future?

Most deffinately, you usually find the bundles are just the "core" of the overclocked systems we offer. :)

Been having a play around with my new one and a Rampage 2 board tonight.

The man does not lie, they are awesome clockers, and ive only tried it on air so far :D

As it's the same chip, the point is that it requres little voltage to obtain high clocks. We have been using these chips for a few days now and every single one has allowed us to push further, using much less vcore

Yes....and my point is that my previous C0 at 4.0Ghz HT and Turbo enabled ran very slightly cooler than the 3 D0's that I have tried even though the D0's required far less voltage for the same speed.

Yeah those temps are almost exactly what mine are and same volts even. I get prime95 stable at 4ghz with a 2.75vcore. Temps are identical to the ones posted.

btw- r u people really comfortable with 75c+ per core? I'm not. Which is why I stay @ 3.86. I actually under volt to run 3.86. My current vcore is 1.18 and prime95 stable.

Well I guess it depends if prime95 reflects real world temperatures, how often does anyone have their cpu running 100% for 8hrs? I expect not many, if at all.
