I've been doing a bit playing with PhysX cards and Vantage if anyone is interested lol!
I had the (mis)fortune of having a couple of these cards, both in PCI and PCI-E x1 format so thought I run a few tests on them. was going to use Fluidmark but it won't run on my system( maybe to do with Vista 64)

My system is as in sig, everything standard, using the 1024 x 1280 res in Vantage and only doing the CPU test (so physX is tested)

Anyway here are my findings:

No PPU:
total: 8724
CPU 2: 11.74

PhysX PCI card no1(Dell?):
total: 11387
CPU 2: 23.75

PhysX PCI card no2(BFG):
total: 11338
CPU 2: 23.47

PhysX PCI-E x1 card no1:
total: 11478
CPU 2: 24.22

PhysX PCI-E x1 card no 2(new):
total: 11614
CPU 2: 24.39

Both PCI-E cards look the same so I can't explain the different results.

I also tried using multiple PPU cards, but it mde no difference, I believe the calcuations are only sent to one card:

2 x PCI-E x1 cards:
total 11576
CPU 2: 24.32

2 x PCI -E + 1 x PCI card:
total: 11337
CPU 2: 23.75

I ran through all the tests twice and there were slight differences each time but nothing significant

Thoughts? (except why did I do it lol!)

what speed is your CPU clocked at?

Can you post a screenshot of the Vantage results screen?
I'm interested in seeing if your score is higher due to your CPU, or if the PPU is faster than my 9500GT at physx calculations:

I get 10380 3dmarks with a 4870 512MB and 9500GT

CPU is at std 2.66 I think, it's one week old.
Screenies of all these would be a pain, it took ages to go through all that again!

Are you on windows 7? I'm sure ATI + Nvidia for Physx doesn't work in Vista, as I do have an 8600GT somewhere.

IIRC the physx ppu weighs in slightly under 9600GT performance, above 9500GT.

yup :)

That was my thinking :)
Still, the 9500GT was fast enough for Mirror's edge, I've yet to try it with something like Cryostasis
