So like Itunes then![]()

Yes it was, my mistake sorry. They are being prosecuted for aiding, correct? That's something I really disagree with.
If they sold it with the sole intention and understanding that the car would be used to deliver drugs, then yes, you would.
Not including torrents, there are numerous other ways of finding and sharing copyrighted material on the internet, I'm not going to list them here though. Why try and sue thousands and thousands of sites when you can just lean even more heavily on the companies that provide them bandwidth.
Why not invent a way so that you can input the name of the file yourself in uTorrent so that there aren't even torrent files needed to share, that way you only need one webpages with what name to input in uTorrent to get the files.
omg omg omg omg omg, I have just had an idea!!!!!! no one will have thought of this surely!!!
Its like steam for valve stuffs, but would be called Dream or summit. Punters simply pay for movies, tv shows, music & games on their "dream" account. Much the same as steam/impulse.
It would have different fees depending on how many TV shows you wanted to download and keep each week/month, same for albums, games and movies.
This could go even further, say you wanted to keep your downloads of say Heroes season 3, you could pay a one off fee for it thats cheaper than traditional etailers and high street stores.
omg omg omg omg, quick oxy, to the patent office!!!! go go go
that analogy was referring to the role of an isp not TPB
It's a difficult case to prove either way, there are so many ways in which you could turn the whole thing in circles from any perspective.
Either way, very very harsh fines for a civil matter.
For the detractors - iTunes is not good enough. Simple as.
There is still a gigantic market waiting to be tapped for all this content. Games, Music, Movies - Everything.
A model *LIKE* iTunes, with nice bits from Steam perhaps plus other bits chucked in. Official and unofficial channels all built around an open platform, paid for and supported by a small % of every sale.
Bands able to chuck promotion material up onto their little bit of the system, all contextual and semantically searchable - Like a drummer? Find out what else he's worked on, movies, games, or other music.
Like a piece of music? Search for similar music (ala Pandora).
Like a film? Search for similar films at the click of a mouse.
To say this isn't possible is a load of rubbish, the only thing lacking in this is a platform, an open body or standardisation to let the whole thing flourish.
If you had a bar and it was notorious as meeting point for few folks trading DVDs it would be up to police, not barman, to make sure they don't do any wrong doing.
Use iTunes.
