Here we go AGAIN!

Reason? Seized caliper. AGAIN. Ok, this time it was the O/S/F, last time was the N/S/F.

Luckily I noticed before it properly overheated the disc/pad/ or caught fire or something, but it did stink, and it was very, very hot.

Now, I know ideally you're meant to replace both calipers, so when I got home to check the spare O/S caliper I had in my garage I found I'd cleverly taken the piston out and let it all rust to buggery. So that went out the window.

Upshot is I've had to spend another nigh on £200 on another pair of calipers (refurbed this time, last ones were used but I needed them ASAP, and nobody had refurbs). Honda wanted a mere £315 + VAT + fitting for EACH caliper!

On the plus side I'll be getting some goodridge hoses fitted when my servicing bloke fits the new calipers (not that he knows this yet).

In under 2 years, my car has:

-Broken down twice due to the immobiliser going spare.
-Refused to start for 2 days because the immobiliser went potty.
-Had to be sorted by a recovery van guy last time the caliper seized to enable my wife to pootle it home.
-Had to be recovered for the same reason yesterday.

You know what, despite all this I actually still like my car. I must be mental.

Its hardly the end of the world, some cheap to fix things have gone wrong, most faults are of the same item.

Mine blew a boost pipe off a few weeks back, couldn't find the fault by the side of the road so i ended up on a flatbed being taken home.

These things happen.

Thats a shame :(

Only car I have seen with brakes stuck on was my mums Lotus.

Try swapping the Type R for a Cupra R ;)

Yet mines had no problems that haven't been a result of my idiotic driving. In fact it only had two so far, leaky shock and broken engine mount.

That's not a lot of bad luck really, all resulting from the same two issues.

That's not a bad list for under 2 years! I owned a 106 GTi for 10 months. In that time it had:

2 driveshafts
1 clutch
1 gearbox
1 wheel bearing
1 radiator
1 power steering pump
complete set of dampers
leaking roof
door hinge tearing off the shell of the car
shattered rear windscreen

and, the rear beam was on the way out when I sold it. All that from a car that appeared in fantastic condition when viewing, and easily the tidiest out of 10+ cars that I viewed before buying.

I'm sure there's worse stories on here though!

I know other people have had issues with their CTRs, mine just seems above average. I suppose it teaches me to not be a scrooge by buying used calipers!

@ timbob:  :D

That's quite impressive!

Woah I was waiting for this to be bad and think damn what have i let my self in for buyin a type R, but thankfully this was mild. Dont do that to me lol.

:D
