sickening police violence

He wasn't touched in the freaking abdomen! Jesus Mary of Joseph.

And yes I read the 'Medical sources said that this could be caused by an injury sustained through trauma such as a fall or a blow to the stomach.' part.

I'm truly sorry to say that all these incidents really are a case of "shame on you" for the police.

With regard to the female thing, I can only go by what I see and hear in the video clip but it seems to me, that all was pretty much under control until a respectably dressed (obviously wrong place, wrong time) guy tries to leave the area; I assume from his repeated requests of "I want to come out" and explanations of "yeah, but it's only me", that the officers are not allowing him to pass: He then gets pushed twice, quite forcably by the officers and that is when people start to get justifiably angry.

The female then goes to remonstrate about the treatment of the guy who was pushed and is backhanded and told to go away by an officer who is showing no ID; again, quite understandably, she starts to remonstrate about her treatment, only to get a baton around her legs.

If I had not seen and heard it, I would think that someone was telling porkies but as it is, I'm dismayed that our police officers think that this sort of action is acceptable.

I also wonder if an abdominal haemorrhage could have been caused when that protester picks up Mr Tomlinson by the arms after he fell over in the original video? Maybe he should be interviewed under caution too?

Wouldn't surprise me if he/she has been completely forgot about.

He was pushed to the floor, was he not?

In the back yes, if you got a punch / baton to the abdomen area then it would be understandable.

How can you go from Heart attack to abdominal haemorrhage.

I have not read the latest parts of the thread but how do they propose to pinpoint it was the officer in the video that caused the damage which lead to his death? With so many people around is it possible somebody else or indeed the victim himself caused an earlier fall which was the problem?

He landed on the floor - hard - even if he didn't land awkwardly the sheer impact of such a fall could have been enough to do it.

EDIT:If you watch the video again you can clearly see that he lands on his arm, which impacts on his abdomen.

The original post mortem was done by someone who has been investigated before...

They could possibly ascertain how long he had bled and if that ties in with the time of the assault by the officer then its a good probability it was caused when he was pushed over, of course they may find he had been bleeding for quite a long time and the push had no bearing on his death.

This is nonsense, the guy had advanced liver and heart disease with a history of heavy drinking which was probably the cause of the bleeding in the abdomen....Im not a doctor but i fail to see how a baton to the back of the knees or a fall can be linked to this.

sure, the cop pushed him to the ground and was a bit stupid and acted without thinking it through but the the guy was walking in front of a line of police and dogs and clearly obstructing them. He was given the option to move on but declined.

Its sad he died but it looks like he wasnt in good health and was maybe on the way out....may have all been an unlucky coincidence...we will never know...one thing is for sure, the cop does NOT deserve to get charged with manslaugher. If this is allowed to happen we will be in a situation where the police will be too afraid to act or use their powers...just my opinion on this.

Well the experts seem to think there could be a link or else the officer would not have been questioned, but you obviously know better than the experts :)

The link is the fact the bloke died after being pushed.

If that hadn't have happened (the push I mean) then there would be no reason for this thread, it would have just been death due to heart attack no doubt.

I see it's now OK for the police to assault a man for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The fact that the guys was ill is even worse and probably contributed to his death, unless we saying you now support so kind of youthanasia for those with drinking related illness.

Obviously the officer meant no lasting harm but if you go shoving people about then there's a chance that one day you'll shove the wrong guy and the consequences that brings.
