I thought I had it sussed. I was going to get the XFX 4850 XXX for a paltry £100. Two things have got in the way. One, the reports on these forums about bad cards. Two, I think that as I'm now not going to be buying for about 3 weeks, with a bit of work that I can bring my budget up to something in the region of £130-140. What gaming I do will hopefully be done at 1920x1080. Any advice on a suitable card please? The quieter the better. Gone are the days where I'm prepared to have a plane taking off in the corner of the living room. My new build WILL be quiet. I swear. :)

Not sure why it would affect those cards in particular. Isn't the 4770 meant to compete with the 9800GT at the ~£75 price segment?

I do think it will affect the 250 and 4850 (by all accounts it almost at 4850 speeds and i am wondering if the 4850 will go eol soon)so you see a bigger gap price wise between it and the 260/4870 than there was with the 250/4850 so i hoping you see the 260/4870 drop some more as the 275 and the 4890 settle in price.
I am just guessing but the 275 and 4890 prices have/are dropping since launch and not sure what level they will settle at and that will affect the 260/4870 and still not sure what will happen to 4850.

Agreed mate, years ago I had a server case for my machine, OC'd to the hilt and had a total of 17 fans or something ridiculous... lol. Think I single handedly helped the UK miss its green targets that year!

Was tempted to have BOEING etched into the side of the case.

Best of all though, it was so big my mate said if I die, he would have me buried in it. Nice.
