I currently only play L4D & COD:WAW but on a 1680x1050 display at max settings they can get quite laggy at times, a lot of the time actually. I have to play COD:WAW with no shadows & specular lighting and only at 2x AA which sucks. I currently own the old 9800GTX, not the newer 55nm ones. Since the GTX 275 is perfect for my price range im tempted to get one, I would be getting the OcUK Value one but I'll overclock it to hell. :D

Cheers!

Your going to be severely CPU limited... also is that 3gig setup correctly for dual-channel? (i.e. 2x1gig, 2x512) if its not that would be holding gaming performance back a lot too.

Unless you have atleast a 3gig core 2 or equivalent CPU your not going to see any real fps boost over what you have now.

It's probably getting laggy because of your CPU rather than GPU. I tihnk with a P4 you'll see little improvement if any and you should replace it with a Core2Duo.

Sounds like the Pentium 4 is bottlenecking the system more than anything else, to be honest. I'd think about upgrading the system to a Core 2 system or similar rather than spending around £200 on a new card for it. The 9800 GTX is a fairly capable graphics card, and overclocks fairly well. The Pentium 4, on the other hand, is a fairly outdated CPU that doesn't really perform very well.

Yep, like they're all said above. I remember going from an x1950pro to 3870xt with 3.4ghz p4 and 2gb ram, think I gained an extra frame in crysis!

That card would blaze through them games with a better processor at that res.
I've got a 8800gtx which is pretty much the same card but with 768mb as opposed to 512mb, and it eats Cod4 for brekko. Thats with q6600 at stock. You need a new cpu not gfx. That card is already a quality gfx card.
