Hi Guys :)

I had a Amp ( NAD 320BEE ) and some Mission speakers connected to my pc. And it sounded fine. But i recently got a new LCD Tv( Panasonic-TX-32LXD85) And i was not happy with the sound on it. So i moved my Amp over to the TV and i now get the sound through the Amp and Speakers which sounds ok. But then i connected my pc with a HDMI cable to the tv. But now the music sounds kind of Flat coming from the pc

When the pc was connected to the Amp before i was using a cable from the Amp to the sound card ( Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1) Do i take that the HDMI Adaptor that i have on my ATI Graphic card is the reason why my music sounds Flat. So what I'm asking is this. Is there anyway i can connect my sound card up to the Amp and Maybe switch from the HDMI Adaptor for TV use. And the X-Fi Prelude for Music. Or is it buy a new Amp time.

Thanks Guys
;)

Nope - just buy a longer lead from the Amp to the sound card & a decent stereo phono lead to connect from the TV's phono audio output to the Nad's AUX input.

Nothing wrong with the NAD, I just wouldn't bother using the Ati for sound when you have the decent sound card in the 1st place. What I think you did was put the TV in as a link between the PC & the amp which has degraded the sound quality. A good rule of thumb is always try to minimise the amount of connections & hardware between the source & the speakers.

Nice one :) Can you recommend a good lead to go from my sound card to my Amp i need something around 10m and a 2m phono lead. Or are they all about the same quality.

Thanks Grimley

My pleasure :D If you want something decent I'd go for Canare/Belden based interconnecting cables.

SPDIF is a digital connection but needs to be converted to analogue before it's fed to your amp. This is the part where it can all go wrong :)
