I know that I've had a thread here before about crayfish, but thanks to son no. 2 and the local river, we now have a bucketful being purged in fresh water ready to eat tomorrow and I want to know if it is all right to eat the females with eggs attached or is there a reason not to?

(I know that there are people out there on t'interweb who think that this may be morally wrong, but these things are wiping out the natives and we should do all we can to protect them)

Also, garlic butter or home made mayonnaise?

You can eat the females.

How many have you caught if there is only a small amount of females,you could let them go so as to give the eggs a chance.

I buy + sell a lot of Native lobsters,some come full to the brim with eggs under there tails.The fisherman are supposed to put them back but unfortunately all they see is £ signs:( So they dont.

Whilst it's a good idea to catch the little critters, you shouldn't really fish for them without proper traps and a license

I wouldn't have thought eggs are a problem - they're probably quite tasty!

Can't wait for some fresh crayfish again - my folks live by a river and we sometimes catch dozens from there. Ummmmm

WTF how the hell anyone can eat these dirty critters is beyond me... urgh, I remember catching these as a kid :(

In an effort to deter;
