Ive been betting on the footy for around 2 week now, so far making £128 from my original £10. Although today is the Man Utd v Everton game. The odds for "1 or more goals" to be scored is 1.1 in decimal odds, so put on £10 win £1. But as its a knockout game, surely 1 goal HAS to be scored. So whats the catch here? Surely there is absolutely no risk what so ever? or have i missed something.

Of course there is risk, there's always risk.

You will be betting on the outcome after 90 mins. If there's 10 goals scored AET you get nada.

Wow didnt know that. The "1 goal or more" is slightly misleading then for someone new to betting like me. Although i was pretty sure there was a catch somewhere as a bookie never offers something for nothing.

Cheers for clearing this up.

Its not really misleading, 1 goal or more will need to be scored to win. So as said, if its 0-0 after 90 mins which is a fairly probable outcome then you will lose.

It's understandable why some might find it misleading, as often on these sites they don't mention when you place the bet the fact that only the first 90 minutes count.

Edit: What bets did you place to earn you £128 from £10?

As my das always says "the game starts at 0-0". He has made a fair chunk of money backing 0-0 on certain games, and sometimes laying it off in the 2nd half for a bet for nothing.

In my personal opinion its a fair price, not too short and not value.

I work in coral just got back actually :D

a lot of people do scorecasts like : x player to score first and the final score to be y - z. They tend to get very good odds but again its how good your judgement is and a lot of luck :D..

But the odds are normally around 25 - 50 to 1 i see.

I personally just do correct scores like 1-0 / 2-0 to a certain team maybe back a 2 or 3 different scores on 1 match to cover yourself.

you're better off opening accounts at several bookies not only to take advantage of the initial offers/free bets but also to shop around for the best lines/odds

arbitrage is an interesting area to get started in but isn't completely risk free - you can end up with genuine unintentional mis-pricings and bets being canceled leaving you completely exposed on one leg.

My personal preference is for 4-5 team accumulators, usually selected from the top teams around Europe, preferably away from home against some minnow.

This week I went for

PSG to beat le havre
Man city to beat West brom
Sunderland to beat Hull (heart ruling head)
Real Madrid to beat rec Huelva
Roma to beat Lecce
Schalke to beat Cottbus

Returned £60 from a £5 stake :D

I have won for the last 4 weeks but this is a rare purple patch.
