Just doing little things these days to the STi until I'm ready to bring it out again, so today I went cooking :D

Take one headlight with orange bit included

Bung it in the oven at 200C for a few minutes

Then pull into two pieces

Poke out orange piece, and put back together

Then compare with the other tangoed headlight

Looks much nicer.

Awaits "i've snapped my headlight lense" and "my headlights keep steaming up" threads ;)

Using the existing sealant that's there. The parts slot together, and there's plenty of sealant. Heated back up before I squashed them together, then tightend all the screws again, makes a good seal.

It's a common thing to do on the Scoobs, I've not read anywhere yet that someone has had to use more sealer.

Yep, the old scooby headlights in the oven trick, did mine the same way as well. Looks loads better.

Glad you didn't do what one of the chaps on SN did and melted his headlight ! :D

I remember when I did them on my WRX. The guide said about 10min :o I pulled it out and the whole thing would have reshaped if I applied pressure anywhere lol.

I did the ones on my Mondeo by blowing the hairdryer at the joint for a couple of minutes. Softened the sealant enough to be able to separate the halves as I was afraid of the oven trick!

I did my 306 black masks by putting them in the oven and pulling them apart. I did suffer from steam on rainy days for a while but a re-seal & bit more sealer soon sorted that out
