What Is going on with Grand Turismo 5?

According to an inside source, GT5 will be out within the next 11 months and will be a worldwide launch. It features 600+ cars, 96 tracks and the ability to cut and paste sections of tracks to make your own one. The online will feature voice chat and clan support among other things. Probably to much to be true but i expect to see more at E3 and definatly TGS this year.

Sounds good..

I'm looking forward to it's release, I think there is plenty of market room for this and Forza 3 (or whatever it's going to be called), a reviewer once summed it up nicely between Forza and GT, one is a driving simulator, one is a racing simulator (or at least trying to be), different enough to make comparisons hard, and different enough to enjoy both in different ways.

Never heard so much b*******. What licenses does GT5 have that hasn't already been modelled arcade style in a dozen other games? None.

What games have had to gain approval from all of the manufacturers for such a huge number of each of their cars in one single title? None.

well it already was in gt4 so theres good odds.

Splendid, never played GT4 much, so didn't get to buy the SLR. If the Audi TT in the demo has a working spoiler and it had it in GT4 then I should finally be made happy with the working air brake.:D

Forza 2?

They went through a lot of hassle to get licences for their 'damaged' production cars.. and hence why they don't completely disintegrate/roll over etc.. (or so they say)..

Each manufacturer required a lot of negiotiation and a lot of say in how much each car could be damaged.. But if they could get all theirs approved and release a game in a short time frame, I wonder if PD are spending too much time modelling the Pozidrive screwheads behind the fully functioning cigaretter lighters..

Wiki says forza 2 has 300 cars, the rumour is GT5 will have over 600. Obviously it is still a rumour but knowing GT i wouldn't be shocked if that figure was accurate.

As has been said already GT5 will have damage too and seeing as there's probably double the amount of cars i would imagine that creates quite a bit more paperwork and negotiations.

Either way, forza 2 was a fantastic technical achievement and i'm not trying to put it down. I was just pointing out that getting approval to have a rumoured 600 cars all damageable must take a fair bit of time.

Half of them are going to be nissan skylines so it shouldnt take too long tbh :D

All games that feature True to life products require permissions from the creators, and then obviously their approval on completion. And GT is being extremely adventurous with the amount of cars and attention to detail, It's going to take time

Yes, but you have to remember that GT never had damage or Ferraris etc. back in the day because people like Ferrari etc wanted their cars to be the fastest and not get damaged etc. Getting the licenses to use certain vehicles and other things can mean jumping through a lot of hoops and end up getting to the last minute.

I can imagine it is much easier nowadays than it was with gaming being more mainstream. Plus, if you READ my post I said they MAY need to jump through a ton of hoops etc. It's not unheard of and it's not BS.

I didn't realise damage was sort of announced, must have skimmed over it while I was at work. I hope its not just the odd scratch and does amount to something more obvious. The track editor does sound very appealing though. That might be the lasting factor if online works well.

It's up for Pre-order on somewhere for 25/09/2009.

Not sure how accurate that is, but I doubt it's play taking a wild stab in the dark?

My mate is the editor for the release dates for games for play, i can assure you they are a stab in the dark. I mean he works off the best info he can find but it's not like he really knows.

The next Duke Nukem Forever anybody?

except its been due for no where near as long from a developer who have released games moderatly frequently and have released updates, media and a extrended 'demo/trial'.

so no nothing like dnf.

you can almost fit the entire GT series into dnf's dev time.

That site says it's all about Gran Turismo 5 Prologue getting damage, better physics etc. No mention of GT5. :(

I want this game so badly.

Ah aye sorry, didn't actually read it fully, there was certainly mention of GT5 having damage at some point i promise you.

GT5:P is like a sounding board for GT5 as far as i can tell, same game engine etc.
