My 3870 has decided to completley give up on me. Pc will lock as soon as i load a 3d app. As im going travelling ive decided to spend £20-30 on somethings that will let me play Left4dead at an acceptable level. e.g. not 640*400 on lowest settings which is all the 5600 im using can manage. Im happy to buy new or 2nd hand just dont know what is availible at this prive range.

no warranty left :(. Bought the card february last year. So cards lasted just over a year but the warranty is only a year. Will be going for a card with a nice long warranty next time a buy a decent one.

Depending on the actual issue, the warranty running out might not mean anything.

If it's a manufacturing fault the 1 year warranty doesn't hold. Graphics cards should be expected to last for over a year, not just a year and a bit.

Sounds like it could be a manufacturing fault so you could potentially get it replaced.
 
I would try to but i leave to go travelling in 3 weeks so dont have the time to argue with them over it. Just going to take it as a lesson learnt.
 
Best to go for 2nd hand at this price. You would have to spend £50-60 to get a reasonable gaming card. Ones cheaper than that will do the job (poorly :p) but you need to spend a bit more to get something worthwhile.

Im just after something that will play left 4 dead at 1280x1024 on mediumish settings. Just needs to do me for 3 weeks. When i get back from travelling ill buy myself a decent card lol

Apologies, but I saw it and couldn't resist, already got one in my HTPC, and that one should do nicely for the small amount of PC gaming I'm starting to do again on my main rig.

were abouts Bangor is beside Newry cant seem to find it at the map.

edit : anyway im going travel to Dundalk few times this week and if u have a car might as well meet up there and i lend ya gts for couple weeks

oh found the Bangor pretty far away
