Torrents wont download

I've never used torrents before so im a bit of a noob. I just installed utorrent and forwarded the default port (ran the test it says its fine). Other than that i've not fiddles with it at all.

Anyway, i added a torrent that supposedly has like 500 seeders. I added it to utorrent but nothing happens. It says its downloading but the 'seeds' and 'peers' remain on zero as download speed. So clearly something aint right.

Anything obvious i can look at for the problem?

Do you have a green tick in the bottom corner?

Try a Linux torrent to test

The key with torrents is patience! Torrents don't instantly max out your connection. Give it 5-10 mins to ramp up...

Some ISPs block or throttle torrents either entirely or through parts of the day.

Have you tried a different client? I use Vuze which OK - but it is a much heavier bt client than utorrent!!

Are you sure the port has forwarded correctly? This is most definately a connection issue.

Try a firefox torrent extension (there are several) it seems to be more out-of-the-box than other clients :-)

Change from the default port, your ISP most likely blocks it.

What ISP are you on btw? TalkTalk seem to destroy my downloads
