Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee or Jet Li?

I realize it wasn't solely and directly aimed at myself though when you quote others' words you should be more specific :)

I may have been a late starter by your standards but I am probably older than you....but you never know. :D

Almost exactly 2 years older than me :)

I started to learn karate just after my 3rd birthday and ended full time when I was 25.

I'm now looking at getting back into martial arts as I think a 7 year gap is enough :)

I bet you remember a thing or two though. Bit like riding a bike. :)

From Wiki

15 Gold medals in a country of a billion people isn't exactly a easy feat !

especially when some of them where won by beating adults while he was 12/13 !

and IIRC wushu is just all round martial arts of any type. he was the champion of the adult one for 5 years running then retired when he was about 18

ive always loved the story about what he said to president nixon

Jet Li started his kungfu(Wushu) training since childhood but his acting career started rather early, which probably prevented him getting further kung fu training.

So was Jackie Chan but he trained in Peking Opera instead of Kungfu.

Bruce Lee started his kungfu training at late teen, isn't he?

kung fu is just a type of wushu . wushu means martial arts

jet li started acting after retiring because of ligament damage

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_martial_arts

cant find it now but have seen an article by him somewhere where he rants about people always going on about "kung fu" even though the term was never mentioned 50years ago and meant something completley different. its solely a western thing to describe what wushu describes in china

anyway.....

imagine an 8yr old chav with a knife knowing these moves  ridiculous

I suggest you research all 3 of these people to make your own mind up,bruce lee was simply way ahead of his time in his skill, training, concepts and philospophy...but remember "before you drink my tea you must first empty your own cup";)

lol, dont talk to me about researching martial arts and martial artists. Not that I have to justify my knowledge on martial arts (because I already have done on this forum) but just because youve "researched" them, you cant make any judgement based on what you know for the pure and simple fact that 1 of them is dead, and 2 of them are past their prime.

Tony Jaa conclusively.

Muay thai is mental enough, Muay Boran is ****ing ridiculous. Jeet kune do hasn't a chance in hell against either. Jack of all trades, master of none.

+1 to Bruce Lee is dead. He was very good at his art, but his choice limited him.

Muay thai is devestating in the ring. Muay Boran was used with great effectiveness to kill people before the nasty bits were removed to leave muay thai, which is still nastier than anything else going. In what other style do you have to stop novices kicking trees to make their shins harder? For that matter, who else worked out that hitting things with the big triangular shin bone made far more sense than with your foot

I dunno about that... its brutal against someone without training... but the attacks leave you too open against someone with focus and timing.

lol, again. The gracies claim that Rickson has won at least 400 bouts, but its not confirmed and cannot be confirmed because they were all unrecorded amateur bouts. He has a pro record of 11 fights. Hes all mouth, he criticises fighters abilities and claims he can still beat them, yet he isnt willing to put his "unbeaten" record on the line. Hes an old man that wouldnt stand a chance against any of the top MMA fighters of today.

my alltime favorite still have to be Bruce Lee. Still remembered punish, as in stand in the corner for one hour for imitating bruce lee = ) when i was a kid. They recently released mini series on bruce lee's life more of a movie then documentry. I want to watch it so bad but is in mandarin, dammit i only know cantonese that's for growing up in the west. my english crap and chinese is also crap.
