Hi

I've been a subscriber to Maxim for years now but I don't like the new look (been out a few months) and I just don't read it any more. I was going to cancel my subscription but it looks like other people have thought the same!

Enclosed with my subscriber's issue this month was a letter hot off the press stating that they will no longer be publishing the UK magazine any more but the website will remain active

They have stated that I have until the 14th May to let them know I wish to cancel otherwise they'll send me the US edition from now on at no extra cost. They've also given me the option to change to Men's Fitness instead

Any thoughts? Does anyone still read Maxim at all?

tbh, their best years were like in the late 90's and early 00's

If i buy a lad's mag (long journey on the train or a flight), it's usually Arena these days, and may be FHM as they seemed to have gotten past that "wanted to be like Loaded" phase.

All of these mens mags are complete and utter rubbish imo. What do you actually read in them which is of any interest whatsoever?

My thoughts too. They've really gone downhill and the new look is awful, got to be said

I've also read FHM for a long time too and I used to prefer Maxim, not any more though. TBH I don't really read FHM either now!

Just stick with the US one until your sub runs out. It's what I'm doing.

You've already paid for it.

I did think of that but they said that they'll refund my the cost of my unmailed issues. Tempting as I don't really read it but I'm also tempted to see what the US version is like!

Ok, and for anyone who isnt a nerdy teenager? The articles are all complete rubbish without fail, no wonder the mag is being canned. I am surprised that FHM hasnt gone the same way.

So? People like to buy trash that means they don't have to think. What's the problem?

No problem, just a query really as to how anyone could view these kind of magazines as anything other than a complete waste of ink&paper. :p

No worse than red top papers i guess :)

and this is the mentality of the people that bought it?, what the hell did they do to lose all that guaranteed income?
Well I paid 99p for a years subscription, and got £30 worth of Bulldog toiletries for 'free'. So....... I think that is where they went wrong.

And the mentality is sound. If they refunded *me* I'd get about 40p. This way I'll get 4 or 5 magazines.

Rofl, can't fault that one....fair play.

99p for a years sub is nothing short of suicide, I guess they relied on advertising revenue far too heavily then?

It went crap anyway. I used to really like FHM but thats gone crap too. Loaded and Front for the birds but they offer little else.

Which magazine has the porn a likes? That section and the jokes section are the only good parts of those magazines.
