A mysterious Twitter message from 3D Realms’ George Broussard might lead to the conclusion that the long-overdue Duke Nukem Forever has arrived in its final stages of development.

Broussard writes:

“Closing out a milestone this week. 71 more tasks to do and we started with probably 800-900. Been a good push. Next one starts Monday.”

So will the graphics be 1998 stylee? :p

Actually they seem to have missed the boat a bit, Serious Sam has taken over the reigns in my book.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!! (wipes tear's from eyes) Good one.

This should be posted in a joke thread in gd part of the forums.

If they started with 800, and now have 10 percent left to do, that should mean in theory only 2 more years for release (allowing bug testing, and everything else).

Yeah, I know. I don't believe it completely either ;)

Does anyone care anymore?

Seriously FPS' have moved on since the days of Duke so unless this offers something unbelievable (which is bloody well should considering how long it's been in development) then when/if it does arrive it'll probably be no better than average anyway

Much more interested in Bioshock 2 or Modern Warfare 2

I agree.

*IF* this does ever come out, it has got to have something incredible about it to have an impact.

No doubt it will sell well due to the associations with Duke Nukem that a lot of people will have, it was one of the very first games of its type.

I think if they do ever release it they should have the first level as really old skool graphically and game play or at least include all the old versions that might be buggy as hell but were shown through the years as easter eggs.

Once the game is out (and I seriously doubt it ever will be) it had better take forever to complete it. I can't believe they have gotten away with still developing this. Surely they must have just canned it all and started again.

They have, several times. I seem to remember them having a major staff clean out too, hiring a bunch of new people to head up the project. Iirc, some of the guys laid off went on to make Killzone 2.

Hoping some new info will be released.
Last I heard they were changing the game engine yet again but I can't remember how long ago that was.

loads of rumours of engine changes but its still using unreal engine afaik.

Heavily modded UT3 engine.

I think at one point they were going to use ID Tech 4 however after their involvement with Prey they switched engines.

Does anyone care honestly? I loved 3D and if it comes out and is great I'll obviously get it but surely nobody is actually looking forward to it anymore?
