Nothing new, but fairly interesting. Clearly put together just for entertainment factor (watching people get drunk), but they throw in some interesting and shocking statistics:

Alcohol related illnesses cost the NHS £2.7bn a year.

Average cost of an ambulance callout for a drunk: £650

I'm only half way through it.

Anyone else watched it?

Will watch it.

I always find the alcohol arguement funny, I personally kinda think it is as "bad" as drugs.

I'm pretty sure drugs don't cause this much money / time.

Leicester like everywhere else is full of drunken women. They just can't drink as well as us men ;)

Well alcohol is a drug, just legalized. If the government could tax cannabis I'm sure it'd be legalized too.

I'm sorry, that came across wrong.

I ment that in the eyes of the general public it is accepted to go out drinking, but not accepted to go out and get high smoking weed.

Taking cannabis as an example, I doubt that drug causes many problems compared with Alcohol, but yet you're a bad person for smoking cannabis, however its fine to go out, get drunk, have a fight, pull a fugly bird, brake something, end up passing out, being sick, going to hospital.

I agree with you.

The only difference between drugs and alcohol (also a drug) is the way society views it. We laugh at that time you tried to drink a litre of tequila in one go and came home sick and was ill for the next day and weak the day after, it's a right laugh and society thinks thats funny. But then everyone assumes that any drug is dangerious and stupid purely for 3 reasons: #1 it's illegal #2 they are uneducated and have never used it # the media.

Alcohol would be illegal if it was dicovered today but it's been here since the bible days and isn't going away, the goverment or very important people are very rich. NOT ONLY THAT ALCOHOL is encouraged worldwide!!

You hear the dangers of a drug and they'll sit there saying ... blah blah 'this causes dehydration, headaches ... oh yeah it has tolerence and can be addictive' but ALCOHOL has ALMOST the same risk/side effects but we are lead into believing it doesn't.

Drugs are more dangerious than alcohol. WHY? Because a 30 odd year piece of legislation says so and any drug may land you in jail and you are a criminal ... alcohol is fine for anyone 18+

So what Tony is saying is this ... durgs aren't bad or dangerious to a smart, educated user who is sensible but if drugs where available the way alcohol was they we'd have a problem because there would be an influx of people overdosing and doing what idoits do.

So the question is, because somebody uses a drug, let's say in a club environment, they DON'T cause trouble ... is that a bad thing?

Agree to an extent.

The old situation of, would you rather walk past a group of drunks at night or a group of stoners :p

And arguably cannabis does less damage (certainly less short term damage) to people.

Anywho, going to watch it as it looks like it could be quite a laugh :o

Yeah, I can't explain things at all well ! haha :(
I fail with it at work aswell, I always say the wrong thing ! haha :D

Cannabis means those lads would probably be sat at home, high, eating pizza :D

Right I'll have another go at describing what I mean !

It is more socially acceptable to go out and get drunk, then go out and smoke cannabis. Despite there being more problems caused to the individual and costing them more then cannabis.

The media however, are in charge of what most people think / believe and if the media decide to think cannabis is wrong, a good number of the population will agree. I don't always blame the media, I blame people for being sheep.

Alcohol is a good example as to why we shouldn't allow for any further legalization of drugs. Wouldn't it be classed as a Class A if it only just came about now it would certainly be a Class B surely?

If ID cards and all that do successfully come about maybe they could start implementing rules later on such as a 3 strike system...if you are on your 4th call out for an ambulance after not being able to control your drink you have to cough up a fine.

it's not a surprise and it doesn't really tell us anything. Millions of people get drunk. A small percentage of the population takes drugs.

Where do you get your percentages from, because if you knew anything about drugs you wouldn't say that.
The US and Newzealand have a near 50% Marijuana drug use.

Pretty small wouldn't you say.

The UK has a large pot smoking population as well, and i would always add to these numbers as well because people usually deny rather than admit.
