Hi, I recently bought a new intel i7 920 D0 Steeping to replace my i7 920 C0. but after a few test I found the new C0 Temp reading in my Motherboard (BTW With the latest Bios) Show that is about 8 degrees hot. What Should do Keep the old one?
Thanks

I heard that the d0 can stand higher overclocks at lower voltages due to its taking more current than the c0.

Also heard that this can lead to it drawing 20W more from the mains.

That could be causing it?

If you had overclocked on your previous cpu lower the voltages. Both the higher voltage and the d0's increased current draw can lead to large increases in heat.

Here are a couple links discussing the current draw. As far as I know its just a theory, but its rather interesting.

You got a bad D0 chip. That's how the randomness with CPU's works. D0 stepping will, on average, reduce temperatures/voltages, but if you go from a good C0 chip to a poor D0 chip, there's no guarantee it'll be better.

Oh, also, you might want to try reducing the voltage in the bios. Lower voltage means lower temperatures, and since D0 chips are meant to run with lower volts than C0 chips, this could be what is causing it. You are probably still running the D0 chip at the same voltage as before.

What overclock are you trying to each???

Are you using the exact same bios settings???

Lower the your CPU Vcore to 1.24v & QPI/PCIe PLL to around 1.200v, if it's stable lower each further - each by the same increments.

Are you using arctic silver 5?

A lot of pastes, most notably arctic silver 5, take a while to bed in before giving their best results.

Hi, thanks forthe replies. I found that at Stocks speed the D0 is a little bit cooler than C0 (1-2 degrees) but when I star overclocking 3.4 - 3.6 (BTW I tried diferent Voltage Setting) is when the D0 start to be Hotter. for about 6-8 degrees, is this normal? Should I keep the D0 or C0?
Thanks
