Okay so Ive been saving forever and have decided I have had enough of messing about on a crappy acer laptop. So I'm going to build a new machine and make a return to pc gaming. Please don't flame me for spending so much. But I was wandering if you could help me with a few dilemmas.

Here is the spec I am looking at:

spec1-1.jpg

Now here come the questions:

  • Will the graphics cards fit in the case?

Ive read the 2x4890 vs the 295 thread and still cant make up my mind, the 10 year warranty from the evga and the ability to add another in a year or so time is tempting

Monitors - Are there any really good monitors for less money, all the ones I have looked at like the dell for 250ish seem to have gotten less than satisfactory reviews, also I would like to try tripple monitor gaming at one point, and dont think I could afford 3 of the NEC's. I just cant seem to find any other 24" that I like the look of and have good reviews.

Would I be better off getting the biostar tpower motherboard?

Is there anything else you personally would change?

I also need to find some cash to buy a keyboard/mouse. So maybe if I found some cheaper screens this would help.

Thanks for looking and I appreciate any replies.

Why have you gone for 2 monitors? for gaming two monitors are not ideal in FPS games the cross hair will be hard to follow as it jumps between the two.
Edit: note that with 3 scress you wont be able to use crossfire in the set up as above you will need a trippleheadgo deivce to run tri-screen

the 900-2 is a big case i cant see why the 4890 wont fit

i cant coment on the i7 stuff

do you really need a 1tb as an OS drive would it be better to get a faster smaller drive for OS and a storage drive if you need it?

I wouldn't game with the two monitors, but I would like two for general every day stuff, it wont be used only for gaming but as my day to day pc as well.

I definitely need a tb for storage, but what would the benefits of having an OS on a separate drive be?

I was looking at SSDs but for the time being they are too expensive I think, maybe I will add some later on when I can afford it.

Is i7 the sensible choice for a Gaming system at the mo ???
2 grand could build you a Hell of a gaming system but I wouldn't be going i7 with my 2k.

For a £2000 gaming machine I'd expect at least 1 SSD, modular PSU and a nice little blu-ray drive in there aswell. I personally wouldn't spend £800 on monitors, you say that the rest don't meet your requirements, what is it you need from the monitors?

What are the benefits of a modular psu? Have no idea what the differences are.

Also I don't need blu ray at all so will save a few quid.

If you wouldnt use i7 what would you use? The d0 chips look like the oc quite well? And surely to an extent this may futureproof my system a little.

To be honest my last tft was a 25ms crappy monitor which has scared me of getting a dud one again. At least I know these NECs will look impressive. They also need to look nice on the exterior as lets face it, 2 24" are going to take up a good chunk of my room. I have read some bad things about TN panels, but would I really notice the difference?
