Over a week ago I asked this great community to give me specs for a gaming PC with a budget of I think £700, ive managed to increase that budget too £900. As before its only the base unit I need as have everything else. But with an increase in budget is there a better spec someone can recomend or should I stick with what I have?

What does the the spec in your post come to.

Clearly im not going to quibble over £30 however how do those specs compare to what I listed for gaming?

What I listed is priced at £832.21

In actual terms of performance I can't really say, but you get Quad core cpu with hypthreading and a platform which should give you option's in the future to upgrade more so than socket 775. The board can take SLI and Crossfire.

Hmmmmmm im very tempted as it would save me a fair bit in the long run when I was to make the jump to I7 I am like I say just curious as to what difference I might see

Mine for the win TBH :D

Kenny's spec is good, but choose a better case.

Was gonna go with the Antec 902 for now, Kenny your a legend thankyou for the specs... how will this system compare to the E8400 system id previously listed?

Whats the difference between the I7 you listed and the DO stepping variant?

the Do stepping, just overclocks better and runs cooler, but i have had fantastic results, like many with the original chip, so not really worth the extra £££ imo :p

well for roughly the same monies you would get an extra 2 gigs of ram with my build, an extra 140gig hard drive space, (and i belive as the 640gig drives are single platter, so run a bit faster than the 500gig version) and when you clock that core I7 baby to 3.0GHz (at least) which can be done on stock cooling so you can hit that no bother with that Noctua cooler, you will have a beast of a cpu, compaired to the E8400.? there is no competition ;)

You know im so very glad I joined these forums...

Something tells me if completley left to my own devices id have completley ballsed things up!
