I went to Jodrell bank today, if you like Astronomy and or Arboretum's it worth a day out, I wouldn't bother traveling say more than 50 miles as there's not much to do. Sorry for the bad pics all my cameras are modified for Astronomy, I had to borrow a crappy one.

You can see by the tents and the trees just how hugh it is!

Some images of the Arboretum, I had a lot more but they all turned out very dark :( We walked around for an hour and seen some Buzzars, I really enjoyed it.

Yea i've seen it swing around on its tracks once whilst i was in the visitors park, seen it moving whilst stood outside the main gate as well :)

Its in a different position most days, night shots of it are cool if you can get the right angle!

Does the ground shake when it moves? I was thinking my god that must shake the floor when it moves!

Got any more pics?

It's amazing. I was lucky enough to visit as a kid in the North West. It represented such a leap forward in it's time. I'm so glad it's got continued funding. So few have any idea what importance it has had in the modern world, it's such a shame.

Long live Jodrell bank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Will have a dig through some proper pictures at some point, CBA now.

Nice pics.

Guys if you got clear skies in your area get your arses out and look up tonight the Lyrid meteor shower is in full swing, I seen 2 on Tuesday night.

I went there when I was quite young. They had this hand driven machine which could peel, core and slice an apple into a spiral all in one go. Don't know what it had to do with astronomy but I've wanted one ever since! They also had a frog which I got to hold. No lies.

I live a few miles from it, although I've never been.

Always wanted to see the size of the dish, having been up to Mow Cop (one of the highest peaks in the area - can see towards Manchester on a clear day and Welsh mountains), Jodrell Bank is very large compared to pretty much everything else in sight.

The farm my grand parents used to own bordered with Jodrell Bank. I've spent many afternoons sat waiting for it to move around. It's an awesome sight.

Been there several times over the years. The visitors centre used to be quite good, but not been in a while.

It's an amazing bit of kit, if a little old now!
