two 4870s because i dont want to pay another £100 for the slightly faster 4890s which are the same cards only overclocked. The 4870s will oc to 4890s speeds anyway plus Ati will have new gen cards out within 6 months anyway so why spend more now?

Also id go for the 2Ghz OCZ ram.

You could knock another £250 off that if you go 775 with a dual core that will oc past 4Ghzs giving u equal/better gaming performance then the 920 with todays games.

Or add £150 to your budget and upgrade the above PSU and replace the 4870s for 2 295s and go quad sli which would cost £2150. yummy!

Oh and no SSD as you wont see any increase in FSP in gaming only faster load times and i dont know about you but waiting 5 extra seconds for loading maps isnt worth £100 +.

Im also going for a 2k build and will purchase at the end of May time, but unfortunatly as I know nothing about building a machine it will be a custom PC via the OcUK custom build section where you get different selections of what you want added, and it comes to around £1,960 for what is here, except that it doesnt include a 24" HD monitor, which is something I really want to upgrade to, so its going to be a monitor on top of this cost.

What 24" monitor would you people recommend I go for? ideally the cost wont be above around £230 if possible ;)

Edit:

The 295 is pretty much equivalent to the 4890, each is slightly faster in some games but they match each other pretty closely. Enough that you probably wouldn't notice the 2/3 fps difference :-)

You can use multiple cards together in much the same way as SLI - ATI call their version CrossFire (or CrossFireX now, I think, but whatever). You just need a different motherboard, since each board will only support SLI or CrossFire, not both.

Most X58 Motherboards Support Both Now.

I only wrote that to make people stop arguing here, its pointless and gets no were apart from pages of SLI or Crossfire is best. I wouldnt really report anyone :p Just thought it was sumit funny to put up to stop the agro :D

Also, I asked for peoples advice, didnt say I couldn't make myself a build...
