basically my rover doesnt work (good old lucas electrics!) so I am selling it to a guy who is going to attempt to repair it I am still however insured on the car and my policy expires in july, he will be towing it away and not insuring it till after july (probably) so what should I do, phone bell and let them know I dont own it ? Im not really sure how its going to work since I wont be getting another car till after my policy expires as I have a work van.

Just unsure on the legalities etc of just leaving it to run its course till july then getting my 3rd years ncb disount
Ta!

You can insure a car you do not own. You cannot insure a car you do not have an insurable interest in, however.

No, it wouldn't prove you're a safe driver.

You will probably get more back from the remainder of the policy than a 3rd year of NCB would save you.

And if you don't tell them anything; what if years from now your insurer decides that you fraudulently obtained that year's NCB, and invalidates your policy after a crash?

That would involve investigating your entire car/insurance history, blatantly isn't going to happen...

Personally I just wouldn't bother telling them, not like you're going to claim so just let it continue and accrue the NCB.

I doubt I would get more back since its only till july, I may have to rethink what I do in that case

Also a friend of mine said that me having insurance on that car if he gets himself a policy on the same car his insurance will be void ?? is that right?

You should cancel. You wont get much back this close to renewal, it'll be short rate so you're what 75% from inception? Prolly like 10% of your premium back.

If he insures the car and you haven't cancelled, the registration will flag up and they'll investigate who owns it, and cancel the insurance of the previous owner. More hassle than it's worth.

Just take the hit.
