guys i had my nuvi 300 stolen a few weeks ago, which i deactivated the pin for my brothers convienience. is there anyway garmin can block the device? i had a look through the site and cant see much or even a number to speak to someone

I think you can set a location lock on the garmin ones so it'll only start at certain coordinates iirc, though probably not much help to you now.

Your googling powers are weak:

If you had your house as the 'home' destination, then you may get a visit in the middle of the night by the same people!

Why? If they're going to rob a house there's no reason why they'd choose a target based on getting the address from a SatNav they've nicked.

If the SatNav had been in his car when it was it was taken by force along with the keys and house keys then you could see it happening or if the satnav was taken from a particularly desirable car which might be stolen to order but otherwise there's just no motivation.

my brother was over from australia and had a lend of a corsa (junk) which they bent the door and opened it. i asked my dumb ass brother to always remove it from the car. he put it in the glove and and put the sucker on the floor for them to see. might i also add the idiot had a camera or ipod box sitting in the back seat. talk about advertising!

Make sure you wipe off any marks the suckers leave on the screen as well.

Yes, this is a good point!

A workmate of mine had his Scania broken into recently, they ransacked the cab looking for the Sat Nav not appreciating that the mark in the screen came from a previous drivers 'Nav that was no longer in the truck!

Real drivers lug around boxes of A-Z's..... (Ahem) :o:D

If a sat nav is nicked at a busy tourist location the house will usually be done the same day as they know the occupant is elsewhere most the day probably, then sorting out the theft after the crime has been noticed.

NEVER put your own home address into them always use a neighbours as if the worse does happen then your house wont be targeted.

As said ALWAYS wipe off the sucker mark before leaving the car and put the sat nav in the boot NOT under the seat or in the glovebox as that's the first place they will look.

Not forgetting the modified startup screen.

heh, try selling that one on in the pub ;)

I changed the jpg our tomtom boots with. Might not stop many smackheads from nicking it, but it should limit their market. (unless it gets stolen by somebody who owns something as technical as a usb lead that is ...)
