My daughter wants a couple of toy guns for a fancy dress party as she is going as Laura Croft but my wife went out looking for some yesterday but says she couldn't find any ?

I must admit it's been a while since I went shopping for Toy guns but surely that can't be the case ? I'm sure the pound shops had loads last time I looked

Has everything gone PC mad on this while I turned my back ?

i dont think shops are allowed to sell toy guns that look like real ones these days? best you can probably hope for is a pink one if thats the case

because of the VCRA (Violent Crime Reduction Act), it is now illegal to, Sell, manufacture or import a "RIF" (Realistic Imitation Firearm) which is "defined" as anything that could be mistaken by an untrained bystander at 30 yards (ie, anything remotely gun-shaped and not bright green or pink)

you can still hire dummy-gun-things at fancy-dress stores, but they're a bit crap.

Not a sensible idea to go around town with replica weapons, even if brightly coloured as per the VCRA.

If you're going to a house that's a different matter, but still very dangerous to have anything that looks like a weapon out in public.

I used to have a cap gun that fired plastic bullets, it worked just like a read gun, using the explosive of the cap to propel the projectile. My parents got if for me for Christmas when I was 4 lol! I can still remember clear as day standing in my dressing gown firing it on Christmas morning and knocking targets over from the other side of the room.

Thinking back this thing was lethal, they were soon banned for that reason.
