Best way to insure a Rover 420 diesel and a 200 Vi at the same time?

Ideal for new drivers who want decent poke and drive for little insurance due to their understated profile. :)

I don't know where you got that from as from past experience with Rover 200s, the insurance on them is shockingly bad compared to similar sized cars.

Havnt looked at them for years, but they always seemed ok when we were all 17ish. I had a 214, a friend had a 214, and another friend had a 214, followed by a 218is.

What are you comparing them to?

Ive always thought the 200 was a good cheap little hatchback. I would actually go as far to say that it is the best cheap little hatchback. Ideal for new drivers who want decent poke and drive for little insurance due to their understated profile. :)

The the best but certainly often overlooked due to OMG headgasket!!!1!! when it actually isn't that difficult to fix and the life of the gasket can be prolonged with a bit of common sense. I still think MK4 Fiestas are the best sub £1000 hatchback due to parts being so cheap and good examples are easy to come by. But the K series is a revvy engine and has a bit of poke so for this application the 200 will make a better warm hatch.

Are? Were my friend, were. ;)

To similar hatches, Clios, Saxos and the like. It was when my ex had one, her insurance doubled when she changed from a 1.2 clio to a 1.6 200. But that may have been due to the 1.6, I don't know what the 1.4s are like. :)

Indeed, the headgasket issue is definitely an issue, but not as much as people make out.

I'll be doing the full shebang even if the car is running OK so it has the uprated gasket and other parts though :p

Edit @ InvG: The K series have a high specific power output for their cc, so insurance does seem high. A lowly 1.4 manages 105bhp!
