Anyone 'suspended' an insurance policy?

I am not going to derail this thread any further. You didn't read my post and instead of just admitting it you are presenting to be "sarcastic" despite your original post not having any sarcasm at all.

Really? Awesome. Does your expiry date change on the policy? Do you still acrue NCB for the year if it doesn't?

The expiry date does not change. You are reimbursed for the days that you do not use the policy. The NCB also counts for the year providing you add a car to the policy before it expires.

Might be different elsewhere but thoroughly impressed with Elephant. First time I have felt like my policy has offered me something in return or went my way!

Whilst I see the logic of what you want to do Fox, I'd still be a bit wary of having it un-insured.

Sods law dictates that random fires (be it in the vehicle or, the building its stored in) will only occur when its not covered!

I know its a hell of a long shot, but surely you'd be kicking yourself if the unthinkable did happen and your pride & joy was reduced to a smouldering wreck?

You know as well as I the chances are slim in the extreme, but, as I say, sods law........

Before you do this mate, are you sure that the renewal price will still be applicable once you return? Normally 30 days isnt it? I dont get the logic...

Has anyone ever stolen a diesel car?

last reported was in '92 when an essex lad hijacked a derv, rumour has it within his first mile of getaway the chassis was already twisted beyond repair from the insane torque levels.

he crashed and burned within the second mile.

no one has dared to approach one since

Makes me glad my old banger is a derv then ;)

Strange the person on the phone didnt seem to know about it, when I phoned Bell to enquire about what to do when my car finally gets written off, the guy was fiarly clued up. Because my car is fully road worthy, yet will be written off by the insurers as they wont fund the damage as its twice the value of the car, there will be a time when my insurance will be voided along with my MOT and ill have to get new ones. The guy on the phone explained its just as simple as calling them up, suspending the insurance, then writing off the car, getting a new MOT and then calling them back up to unsuspend the insurance and it would carry on from that point. I wouldnt loose any NCB and my policy would just be extended by the amount of time it was suspended. This was looking at only being suspended for a week or 2 mind, not 7.

tbh for all this effort I'd be forgetting it and just reinsuring but spend the effort making sure I got the best possible renewal price. Then you have total peace of mind.
